Application of biotechnology in forest production

Science has advanced so much that it has allowed technological processes to be involved in everyday life in improvements for living beings, being the application in other sciences such as biocheology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics among others, so that they can help in thegenetic improvement in species. Biotechnology has had a lot

Thanks to the genetic modification applied to forest species, it is observed how it is resistant to viruses, fungi, insects and resisting the application of herbicides without altering its production, having as an advantage the increase in wood production which takes the step toBetter marketing, this application is known as transgenic trees resulting in a better quality in wood, greater production. “Forest species can be incorporated genes that improve their growth and quality of their wood,” (Acuña, 2003).

During an investigation carried out in countries in North America and South America, it shows how the Populus species (poplar) has reacted, among others against the protection of viruses, fungi, herbicides, becoming a transgenic tree;According to what he says (Martinez-Ruiz, 2003):

"Herbicide resistance in Los Alamos is probably the best developed genetic modification technology in forest trees"

Thanks to the application of this technology maximizes the genetic benefits that are obtained. Certainly the application of this technology will not always be applied in all species, since there are species that do not obtain better growth and their physiological conditions are not feasible in the middle to be able to apply this type of technologies.

We know very well that biotechnology has presented good results in its application, but we must not ignore that there are pro and cons within the application, since they can present impacts on the environment, in the forest ecosystem, for this it is necessarythat environmental impact studies are carried out. If we want to implement these technological systems, it is necessary to observe that other species can be resistant to pests, insects, herbicides. It would be necessary for a forestry to be carried out to apply the genetic modification processes to observe whether the species introduced have given good results. Some cases can be applied in agroforestry processes through agroforestry systems, since it is necessary.

There are cases that, in many places to apply this type of technologies, requires an adequate study of the products that will be applied in forest species, determine if the application is viable for its production, if the product obtained is the best, but in other cases such as peasants, they find it complicated because the costs they have is not feasible and the estimated earnings is very low.

New technologies in the forestry sector have great opportunities for the genetic conservation of species, for this it is necessaryBe help for wood production or other forest products, since, as well as science progresses, technology advances the integration of new improvement and conservation programs can be detected.

Conclusions

The genetic modification technique of forest species, which is applied during the technological process, has allowed these species to be resistant to viruses, herbicides, fungi, viruses, and among other effects that the species can have. However, it should be noted that some species are not benefited from this application until they are not in their proper development.

In some cases, there is no feasible conclusions about the impact that forests have against the use of technologies that help genetic improvement, but it can be identified that some forests that are not affected are native forests, since this dueThey exist in each country, it does not allow access to primary forests.

Biotechnology does not act aggressively in plants, since this requires a thorough process for the genetic improvement of the species that is required to conserve.

It can be identified that Ecuador is a country that is not trained for a process of powerful genetic improvement, since if we do an analysis there are no laboratories that work with the most thorough use with biotechnology.
