Apology of Socrates, Plato’s work

Socrates Apology is a work by Plato, which is part of the first dialogues of this. Although there are no works by Socrates himself, his philosophical thinking is known thanks to what his disciples about him wrote.

We can well divide apology into three parts.

The first would be the accusation; They make us know that Socrates is being accused of several people and is facing a court

Socrates begins to declare that the accusations are lies, many of those who have said barbarities of him have not even had any minimal conversation with him and are only getting carried away by the rumors that people have started spreading their person.

The first thing for what they accuse him is for being an impious person, that is, he does not demonstrate any religious devotion or no respect for religious issues, this because he is a wise man who investigates what happens in heaven and in The Earth also says that he was dedicated to teaching and charged for it, which is false.

Regarding this, Socrates argues that he does not teach and much less charges people, he simply met young people who accompanied him and talked to him.

The second accusation against Socrates is that corrupted young people, this accusation tells us that he did not believe in the gods of the State, but in demons, everyone thought he was teaching this to young people and that somehow somehow I was corrupted and carrying a bad road.

To be able to explain that this is false, a dialogue between Socrates and Melito is established; And Socrates proves that he does not corrupt young people, and that if someone can corrupts not only he is him, and that anyone can do it, he also says that instead of corrupts he may or may not make them men of good.

Socrates also states that it was unfair that he was directly called to a court because according to the law there are processes that must have been respected before.

After all said a vote on Socrates’ sentence is made.

Acceptance and penalty would be the second part; The vote results were negative and he was sentenced to death.

Despite the conviction, Socrates accepts her, however he says that he expected more votes against him.

Socrates then starts saying a few words and begins by mentioning his family, but he argues that he does not say what they sound compassion, because he has already accepted his sentence and does not want to find a way to obtain his compassion, that if he failed to convince them with All the facts that I present previously will not do so with words.

The third part would belong to the prophecy; In this part, Socrates mentions that those who condemned him will be punished, he explains that it is better to strive to be virtuous than to end those who supposedly corrupt young people.

Socrates asks the judges to take care of their children as the last favor, who do they see them doing bad things to rebuke them so that they are not going to go for a bad way.

The apology of Socrates, without a doubt it is a work that has managed to contribute something to the history of thought, since it presents us shortly the way of thinking that had a great philosopher that we have all heard from (Socrates); It shows us how he reasoned to everyday problems and that despite his condemnation he hoped that more people would get out of ignorance and reflect above all those around them.

It was a text that I present good arguments; I was surprised by the way he defended himself, reading this work without a doubt something totally different from what I am used to and I was undoubtedly achieved that I would question something as I passed.

I think it was currently not as valid as it would have been a few years ago, because ideas are evolving and can be found with some failures.

Personally it was a reading that enjoyed, and I do not mention that I did not make an extensive work, although there were certain words of which I did not know its meaning and that caused me to distract me a little, this could be easily solved thanks to the internet. I think that although I liked this work I have to say that they are not my favorite readings.
