An odyssey in space

Introduction

2001 An odyssey in space deals with two different themes, on the one hand, the issue of human evolution, and on the other, the issue of artificial intelligence, however, both are related, since human evolution would not have been possible withoutIntelligence, or, in the case of the film without the black monolith (symbol of evolution).

Developing

The first scene we see is that of primitive cavernícoles that try to survive in a bad conditions, then we see that they are threatened by a leopard, which increasingly kills a cavernícola of the group, and for a second clan. It is then when the black monolith appears, and there is a change and the cavernícola: it seems to reflect on the bones on the ground and start using them as a tool for defense. Consequently there is the first evolution of the human being, which can already defend themselves from the leopard and the other clan that threatened them. At the evolutionary level this step is very important because from there they will become hominids and will evolve until they become Homo Sapiens Sapiens.

The next scene we see are men on the moon, it is assumed that man has evolved enough to get there, it is then when the second monolith is, and, when touching it emits a kind of waves and sound thatThey direct man to Jupiter, where the following mission will take place. Once again, with the presence of the monolith there has been a kind of evolution of the human being that has allowed not only to reach the moon, but Jupiter.

Once there is discovered the third monolith that takes the astronaut through a high -speed route where he observes the cosmos and a kind of a new world opens before his eyes, until he reaches a strange hotel room, very similar to those of theEarth, in which he quickly ages even in bed about to die, that’s when the last monolith appears and the last evolution is given in the human being: the astronaut, thanks to the monolith, becomes a kind of babyWith an intelligence and powers superior to those of the rest of the humans, becoming the first individual of this new species, and the first thing he does is travel to the earth, observe it and there the film concludes.

In conclusion, I believe that the monolith has surely been created by extraterrestrials or a divinity with an intelligence much higher than that of human beings, and has been as directing the step step by step through these monoliths until reaching the highest evolutionary level (that of the baby) and this level will be similar to the creator of the monoliths and I imagine that the universe will come to dominate.

On the other hand, the plot addresses the theme of artificial intelligence, and does so from the supercomputer Hall 9000. This was scheduled for Jupiter’s mission (the success of the mission is its greatest objective in life); His behavior is almost like that of a human being and is very intelligent, so much so that his series has never occurred, it is overwhelming, a kind of artificial brain.

Due to his high intelligence and precision, they put a charge of the vital functions of the astronauts who were in the ship in a hibernation, and its creators confessed the true objective of the mission, which used a great dilemma in him, andthat he must obey the orders of his creators, but in turn he is afraid that if astronauts do not know the true objective, they are wrong in decision making. This will cause a false fault alarm to create, which caused astronauts to distrust him and plan to unplug him. In the film it arises if Hall has feelings, I think so, because he is afraid that the mission fails and also shows other feelings such as fear of being unplugged or pride in being from a series of very precise computers.

That fear of being unplugged (dying) takes Hall to a kind of rebellion against astronauts, consequently tried to kill them all. He managed to kill the astronauts who were hibernating and pole, Dave managed to save himself and enter the ship to disconnect to Hall. While Dave was going to disconnect to Hall, he tried to apologize and was repentant, however, it was useless because the astronaut gradually disconnected his brain, erasing all his memories and his life.

In conclusion, Hall creators trusted more artificial intelligence supposedly perfectly than in humans, which was clearly a mistake because even artificial intelligence in difficult situations or a lie faces the same existential dilemmas as us, and alsoIt can fall into neurosis like Hall’s with which it ends up being equally imperfect as us.

conclusion

Our most remote ancestors created rudimentary instruments technologies of stones and bones, which played an important role in the survival of the species. Today we generate computers and AI programs, which corroborate the extraordinary advance of human knowledge and announce relevant transformations in our societies. The future of intelligences and beyond infinity addresses the future of human intelligence and its relationship with AI. Research point to a future cerebro-organizer symbiosis to increase our abilities or interact with technologies through thought, which could lead to a transhuman being.

I have also asked myself questions such as and if we really are part of an experiment of an extraterrestrial civilization and they are handling our evolution
