12 years of slavery Critical review

"The greatest glory is never falling, but always getting up".

12 years of slavery is a cinematographic work directed by Steve McQueen and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2013; This work is based on the autobiography of Mr. Solomon Northrup, who was born as a New York -free citizen with the fortune of having the power and magic on his fingers playing the violin being a black resident, with which his family. Like him his wife and his children were black and / or free citizens. After a night of drinks along with two friends he had met on his lucrative tour, (victim of a hoax) wakes.

Thus he begins Northrup’s odyssey trying to prove that he was a free man, who was also taken away from his life and his name was changed (A Platt, a George fugitive slave) not be legally recognized. He was sold twice, he had to do heavy work, suffer work abuse, violence and humiliation to three different masters, for 12 years.

Despite the abuses, Northrup does not lose hope of returning home and manages to send a letter to be released after telling its story to a "white" that believed in the law, some time later, the sheriff reaches where he works together With Mr. Parker who recognizes as a merchant who distinguishes Saratoga who corroborates the story of Northrup and finally after 12 years he returns with his family as what he is, a free man. Upon arriving home he was very nervous and shy to see his family, upon entering they give him the news that he is a grandfather, and that his grandson bears his name.

In the story the author makes us known in a raw and real way what many slaves live great capabilities, who without fear of it fought for his freedom; In the same way he is a brand of recognition and reflection for all that abuser, that we find day by day, which aims to suffer people of color just for their race. On the other hand, something that highlights this film, is the spirit and strength we find in the midst of chaos, regardless of how great the pain is .This is a film that inspires us to fight for everything I want, this has a great impact because unlike many other films he makes known the true pain and the true experiences for which a person suffers and this is what he gives him The unmatched value to the film.

Regarding the content of the film we only have to say that it addresses different points of view that the market (blacks, slaves, without liberation) provides in this one we managed to see different types of “shops” in slavery since they met the buyers, that value and take care of their "merchandise" on the other hand were the bad guys who reached the point of killing them and not giving more, we can clearly observe a parallel world that in this time does not disappear where we are being governed by a neutral capitalism where we unconsciously continue to live All kinds of slavery, we can also notice, that thanks to this slavery next to the abuse you reach the point of wanting to commit suicide, for not enduring the pain and suffering that is lived day by day.

It should be noted that the will of the human being to maintain his identity, talent and dignity of him at this time is a daily struggle, where these factors are exposed day and night to be conditioned in different suffocating and little tolerant aspects.

Beyond physical, psychological and mental pain there is a certain will to live, a constant struggle that in these times observed where the people do not resign, the oppressed or oppressors are not characterized but above all are speeches and treated where the slavery headed by Countries like the United States, Argentina, Chile and Cuba end up suffering, humiliation and loneliness by different races by providing support and equal rights.

We remember and commemorate the honorable date of August 23, 1997 where the rebellion of thousands of Haitian slaves gave freedom which marked and marks a before and after in reality although we still see the different farms that are often other forms of forms of Exploitation for forced labor purposes in an arduous field of categories are still going through phenomena with social problems which affect the oppressed people however the fight continues in the paths of peace, freedom and for social justice.
