Gender violence refers to all those type of violence that is exercised against women only by being; In the family environment, violence is also manifested that falls on the aforementioned, this is a problem of the entire society, which has occurred through time. It is essential to be able to distinguish the different types of violence that exist towards the female gender. The movements organized by women emphasize that abuse is not a matter of place, clothing or age of it, but clearly our gender with what I clearly agree. And it is vitally important.

There are many stereotypes that surround gender violence and introduce it into society in an undoubtedly counterproductive way;Because of that they begin, first discrimination against women, complex or psychological problems, which is caused by a stereotype which years ago it was insinuated that when not fulfillThen, as women through campaigns and various movements we have managedmale gender, since violence is not among women, but of their gender towards us.

As stated through the years that this violence is considered a sexist act that can have some damage result of any kind or suffering towards women both somewhere public and private. The most frequent types of violence in which women are involved are as follows:

  • Psychological: it is a quieter type of abuse than others and therefore more difficult to perceive, however, no less traumatic for victims, it refers to contempt or denigrate women, with recurring shameful, humiliating care and comparing them throughof stereotypes, which is also done by social networks, generating isolation, marginalization and cellotipia towards them, leading them to a clear decrease in self – esteem, to a very possible depression, being harmed its healthy and natural development.
  • Physics or sexual: It is any behavior that threatens or violates the rights of women including here the excessive use of force in non -consensual acts, being forced and harassed as a woman arriving physical marks such as: blows, bruises, among others.

  • Institutional violence: it is the act of discrimination that they carry out in the workplace where they can hinder access to employment, that is, to a promotion, stability in this, demand a certain physical appearance towards us;Also decrease our salary for simple gender.

The first indications where violence occurs is during the adolescence stage, during the school period of girls, abuse, harassment and gender violence begins because they are discriminated against by gender stereotypes. In fact, the figures delivered by the United Nations Organization/Gender Violence indicate that 34.4% have been affected by this type of violence (psychological type); And another 24.7% have received sexual violence inside the educational establishment. Subsequently, aggressions such as couples or marital relationships begin, presenting themselves violently, exercising any type of aggression mentioned above;According to study last year by UN women, it indicates that “[…] 35% of women around the world have suffered physical and/or sexual violence by a sentimental partner or sexual violence by another different personto his sentimental partner at some point in their lives […] ”(WHO, Web.Unwoman.org n.P 2013).

These figures are unacceptable at the time we live and campaigns that are carried out, they should not increase cases and cease with gender violence because it is also a violation of our human rights; For months and even years, this topic should be taken so delicate with more awareness.

Throughout time the State of Chile has led to several laws that deliver amparo and protection towards the female gender which will be mentioned broadly:

  • Law 20.066 domestic violence (highlighting that this law does not particularly protect women, but any fact of violence within the family nucleus, but it is also the only one that allows us to denounce the sexist deals or aggressions within it)
  • Law 20.480 femicide, Law 20.005 sexual harassment at work, Law 20.348 Salary equality.

These laws were created to deliver greater protection when legally attending for a cause of violence to women, however, none very severe considering the aforementioned figures, it is not enough to reduce cases because the aggressors are the ones that should really takeawareness of the acts caused to our gender.

What to do in case of being a victim of violence?:

Do not feel afraid of telling your close ones what you are living, since your support will be fundamental to your protection. It is also important that by living an episode of violence, make the corresponding complaint in Carabineros, PDI or Prosecutor’s Office, with this you will record what you are living. There is also state support in guidance, psychological, social and legal care through women’s centers. If you are a witness to any act of violence, it is also important to contain and accompany the victim to feel more protected, immediately call Carabineros at 149 or 133, the PDI to 134 or 1455 to ask guidance. "There is a universal truth, applicable to all countries, cultures and communities: violence against women is never acceptable, it is never forgiving, it is never tolerable" (Ban Ki-Moon, General Secretary of the United Nations, 2008)

For all that read, it is important that you questions each fact where you have felt belittleTime and moment of change to act properly, seek help to finally denounce it;You must feel safe, supported and released at all times in life, this is vital as a woman and they all deserve to feel like this. It is time to make a change at society of both genres, and if man does not cease or understand this, he will never change the treatment towards us, it is not enough that we have protection laws if they do not change their actions towards women, becauseAs mentioned throughout the essay, they propitiate gender violence.
