Gender inequality causes overpopulation
In recent years, rights towards women have achieved an increase and clear importance, every day there are more women who can make their own decisions regarding their reproductive lives, but there is still a large percentage of women who still lack this Law, these women are mostly in underdeveloped countries.
The head of the FPN (United Nations Relationship Fund), Natalia Kanem comments that "the high birth rate is, above all, to the prevailing inequality between women and men in many countries". So, gender inequality is one of the greatest causes of overpopulation in the world. Later we will talk and explain about why this is true; We will see the difference in the cup of fertility between the countries that are industrialized and those that do not and as gender inequality affects this, and consequence of this leads us to overpopulation and how overpopulation will lead us to a demographic explosion in a near future.
Gender inequality has been and remains an obstacle to human development. According to the UN (United Nations Organization) of 51 countries that were studied, only 57 % of married women or who are in a relationship are those who can make their own decisions in a total way in terms of sexual relations with your partner and the use of contraceptive methods and medical services.
The document also indicates that 214 million women in less developed countries who would like to prevent pregnancy do not have access to information, services and modern contraceptive methods. This causes that in underdeveloped countries women have more children, since they cannot have a family planning for not having the necessary information and resources. Today the fertility rate according to the World Bank is 4.6 children in low -income countries, compared to the fertility rate of high -income countries, cup is 1.6 children. According to Adela Cortina (a philosopher, winner of the International Jovellanos International Award) says that the greatest demographic growth will occur in the poorest regions that are non -industrialized countries on the planet such as Africa and Asia del Sur. It is estimated that countries like these will fold their population in the coming years. Right now there is an immense difference between the amount of babies born in developed countries and those that are not, that is because in developed countries people are better informed and women exercise rights over their body unlike underdeveloped countries. In non -underdeveloped countries gender inequality is greater, there is less information and health resources and pregnancy preventive are more scarce, coupled with a factor in many occasions of culture and traditions that causes this uncontrolled fertility. It is clear that the population is increasing more in underdeveloped countries compared to those developed, and because of this there is great growth in the population that has not been possible to stop.
According to the newspaper El País, it is estimated that every year there is an increase of 77 million people in the world, and that by 2050 we will have a human population with more than 10 billion according to the United Nations Organization, that is I would consider as an extreme demographic explosion according to Gerd Müller (German Economic Cooperation and Development Minister). Overpopulation is a problem that today is reflected in the world, and are problems that lead us to climate change, exploitation of natural resources, famine, among many others that are affecting not only human beings, but the entire planet altering your condition. There have been attempts to reduce the population such as in China according to the Hiraldo magazine there is a law in which only one child could be had, also a time when the idea of not having many children became popular. All this in order to reduce the population.
Gender inequality is a problem that we have to continue promoting and working to reverse the percentage of fertility and help to reduce the population and according to Saadia Zahini (author who also address the center for the new economy and society of the forum). He says that of the countries studied 85% of them have had an important reduction in terms of gender inequality in recent years. If we manage to solve this situation of inequality, not only would it help women and their rights much, but also help the planet regarding its development. UNDP (United Nations Development Program), shared that it has been shown that when you empower a woman there is a multiplier effect that helps promote economic growth and development in the world. If we continue to improve in having less gender inequality, an important change in the world will be seen, not only right now, but in the future.
Concluding this issue could say that, by decreasing inequality between women and men, raising awareness decisions about your body. Much has been achieved, but more work is required more education, understanding that the issue is of the utmost importance and that achieving control in the population will bring us benefits throughout the planet. That is why the issue becomes critical and cannot continue to post.
