Feminism as a political and controversial movement
Feminism is a very interesting topic for many, and usually feminism has always been a very controversial issue that has impacted, and continues to affect many women in the world. Through the years, fortunately, most women have managed to be treated with more respect, and with the same rights that men have. Nowadays it is evident that feminism is a political movement that has advanced a lot, and that women have acquired to be seen as the valuable ones that are. Feminism has been shown through many media, stories, music, movies and books. Feminism would not be where it is today, if it were not for the courage of great women who were not afraid to raise their voice and demonstrate their ideas and knowledge to the world. Emilia Pardo Bazán is, a great Spanish writer of the seventeenth century and a great feminist figure. One of his great works was "the broken lace". The book "Anthology of Spanish feminist thought" has a strong amount of beneficial information and some points not before seen about Spanish feminism. Much is speculated on the feminism of other countries and Spanish feminism is as a secret for many. In this essay, Spanish feminism will be analyzed, through feminist knowledge demonstrating the book "Anthology of Spanish feminist thought" and as "the broken lace" by Emilia Pardo Bazán is an example of Spanish feminism and carries in itselfSpanish feminism values.
In a publication entitled Obituary you can learn about Emilia Pardo Bazán. Mrs. Pardo Bazán was a very successful Spanish woman in Spain. Emilia was born in 1851, in the city of Galicia. He has been recognized as the most famous woman in Spanish literature in the last half of the century (195). Pardo Bazán was the creator of many famous literary works such as "A Boyfriend Journey", 1889, "Mother Nature", 1887 and Insoration, 1889, among many others. Unfortunately his career came to an end at 70 years for his death in Madrid, during the same time that she was a professor of Spanish literature, at the Central University.
Something curious that is said in the book "Anthology of Spanish feminist thought" is that "there are quite complete anthologies of the Anglo -American feminist thought). The book of "Anthology of Spanish feminist thought" includes strong beneficial information of Spanish feminism. Some of the most interesting were the idea that children come from mothers, and need them. “The son always needs his mother, even if he keeps her.”(87) Although men are normally suppliers, somehow or another they always need women.
The story "The broken lace" by Emilia Pardo Bazán published in the seventeenth and nineteenth century, is a literary work that demonstrates several of the feminist values, at an era where women still did not have the respect they have now. Spanish from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. The story tells the story of a young girl who, as was the custom in Spain at that time, has to marry a man who does not even know well, and subordinated before him. However, this story challenging the customs and obligations that women should have in Spain when she decides to make their own decisions. When the wedding day arrived, for the first time she realizes how the man who is going to marry is. Micaelita in the short time she has to see her future husband in front, realizes how it really is the man who has to marry, and makes a decision that will change his life and destiny.
Micaelita, realizing that Bernardo is not a good man, but is a macho and a dominant man, barely knowing him, he realizes that only a life full of suffering, abuse and subordination before him awaits him. Because of this Micaelita makes a quick and unexpected decision. Micaelita decides to arm yourself with courage, value, and rise your voice to all, regardless of the consequences or that others think, and tell Bernardo that he does not want to marry him. This story demonstrates feminist aspects because Micaelita put her feelings above all, and did what she believed was the best. I throw her fears out the window, and the silly idea that the woman is obliged to do what the man has, because she is inferior to him.
In summary, feminism is a political movement that has benefited today’s women, getting them to have the same opportunities that have the shoulders. Spain is a country that like many, introduced feminism and had favorable consequences for women, leaving behind the idea that are lower than men. "The broken lace" by Emilia Pardo Bazán is a perfect example that women are strong, and we don’t need men. The story of Pardo Bazán also demonstrates the courage of women, and that women have the right to do their will, and have their lives as they want, not what other people tell him that they have to do. In Spain, as in all countries of the world women are very valuable and those who give life.
