Importance of Genetics today
Genetics is currently important, today, much of the population does not know the genetics of their ancestors, knowing the genetics of our ancestors prepares us for the circumstances that we can pass, for example, we can be aware of diseases and conditions to which you are prone. What is genetics?
Genetics is a branch of biology that studies, as characteristics are transmitted by generations. Genes are units that contain information, this information is used by individuals to transfer a particularity to their offspring. Genetic material contains all the information of the characteristics of individuals. This information is responsible for finishing and giving characters to individuals, this is better known as "phenotype".
The discovery of genetics has brought many medical advances, has allowed the application of genes in different processes, that human beings never imagined.Genetics as such allows to alter genetic material, certain species and this helps them develop new qualities. Thanks to genetic engineering, species of animals, plant species, fungal species among others ..
Although innumerable techniques have been implemented using genetic material, some people do not agree with certain applications of said material. For example, a certain part of the population argues that this engineering challenges ethics, since, in some cases species of animals have been used, for the practice of these scientific experiments.
In animals inquiry, there are various ethical questions both in their employment and models of human diseases and for the discovery of alterations that can occur in their genes, used by humans, as in the preparation of genetic modifications.
Some of these questions or claims are based on the fact that the animals used for these practices are not completely similar to the system that a human has as such and these practices are extremely harmful to animals, since, their nature and environment are altered, through genetic modifications and the danger of incorporating genetically modified organisms. Even with all these advances there are people who do not like the way in which these techniques are applied.
There are processes and factors that give advantages to human beings with the use of applications that allows the study of genetics, for example: the discovery of certain diseases such as diabetes, in animals genetic alterations to eliminate negative features and make "stronger" species in different ways, as well as the discovery that certain species are genetically similar to humans. On the other hand, it has allowed information so that people are aware if they are genetically more vulnerable to cancer than other people.
In conclusion, we can determine that the study of genetics has opened many doors for the knowledge of humanity and although some do not agree, it cannot be denied that this has brought many solutions to different problems.
