Virtual class and advances in education
Introduction
Distance education is not a new topic. For years it has been being carried out. It is given thanks to the Internet and the advance of new technologies. Distance education allows learning to develop, but without a face -to -face relationship between the teacher and student. There has been much talk about the advantages and disadvantages of its application during this time of confinement.
Developing
We know that one of the advantages of virtual education is the possibility of establishing both synchronous and asynchronous communication, although differently, the interaction between teachers and students. Another important advantage is the fact that it is not necessary for all participants to be in the same geographical region. We know that because of the context that many people were lived in our country, they had to return to their native cities for various reasons, so the fact of not being in the region in which they normally settled was not an impediment to continue receiving their classes. In addition, it is important to note that, in this period of adaptation to virtual education, teachers and students were able to discover many of the tools and resources present on the Internet, which could facilitate the teaching process. Within these resources we have, libraries and laboratories online, videos, platforms to carry out evaluations to students, among others.
Another of the main advantages is the comfort provided by distance education, since it can be accessed at any time and place, as well as the ease of being able to register class sessions and allow those students who wish to access them and review them.
Having mentioned some of the advantages, it is also necessary to mention the disadvantages. As I mentioned at the beginning of this essay in virtual education there is no face -to -face relationship between the teacher and student and therefore could be considered as one of the largest disadvantages given the least personal interaction.
Another important disadvantage is that during the development of virtual class sessions, technical inconveniences could be presented that could affect the teaching process. Likewise, not all students would be in the same conditions, since some have greater facilities to access this form of education, while for others it could be a challenge both for the location in which they are and the Internet access of thatregion as for access to devices that allow them to access their classes. Another disadvantage for students is that virtual education leads to greater autonomy and effort on the part of the student so that they can organize their time and thus fulfill all their tasks, I mean this as a disadvantage, since as we know not all studentsThey manage to achieve the required skills at the same time and although it is true each student should be autonomous is not something that is reflected in reality.
With respect to the disadvantages for teachers we could not stop mentioning the limitation that has meant for them not being able to use the pedagogical strategies that were designed based on the needs of their students and the cognitive processes that are carried out during learning. Having exposed both the advantages and disadvantages of virtual education, I allow myself to share this opinion that I have about this topic. I consider that during this time of pandemic for which we are going through access to distance education was the alternative that allowed students from schools and universities to continue receiving their classes;However, in all this time we have been able to see the shortcomings of this, being the affected students given the limitations it possesses. As we have already seen, the existence of interactions between students and teachers is of the utmost importance and although it is true I am one of those who think there is nothing like attending a face -to -face class, I also think that we could and should apply many of the resources for thelearning available on the Internet, all this in order to have better results and guarantee success in the teaching process.
