Video games and their relationship with the environment applied in education

Is it possible to relate video games and the environment? To answer the question raised first we must analyze what video games are and how these can be related to the environment, whether implementing them in the educational or social field.

First, I will announce if there is the possibility of linking video games with the environment in the educational field. After the same way I will analyze the possibility of linking video games and environment in the social sphere.

Finally we will analyze how to implement video games mainly in the educational area.

First what are video games? Video games are computer programs designed for entertainment and fun that can be used through several platforms such as consoles, computers or cell phones. Over the years video games have evolved, implementing the characteristics of new technologies making them more interactive.

The above opens a world of possibilities, since being more interactive there is the possibility of implementing them in many areas such as education. In fact, Prensky (2007). It suggests that, in the educational field, the use of video games can become an instrument of great use, through the establishment of processes such as the so-called game-based Learning.

The Game-Based Learning, unlike the so-called gamification (the use of motivating elements that encourage learning) the theoretical contents are presented in a video game this causes students to mainly see learning in a fun way and look more motivated and more motivated andimmersed in this.

Thanks to the above there is a way to link video games and the environment in education this is achieved by instilling values through the aforementioned instruments, but I will speak of this later.

Now there is the possibility of linking video games and environment in the social sphere? With this I want to refer to the most adult population. In my opinion this is more difficult to achieve, since as adults are obviously not very regular at video games, which makes it more difficult to instill environmental values the only way in my opinion to ensure that adults are more aware is throughGovernment campaigns, but this issue is no longer from my competition.

Now that we verify that there is a way to link video games in the educational field, let’s see how the aforementioned tools are implemented. Kapp (2012) mentions that education has absorbed the application of video game techniques to introduce them in learning processes and thus, transfer their effectiveness to child teaching, school, and even university.

In conclusion, it can be seen that the application of video games focused on the environment applied to the field of education encourages learning environmental values and behaviors and helping to raise awareness of children about the importance of caring for the environment. Also as a conclusion I can say that due to the context that is being lived today, education will have to change and it would be a very positive change for our future to implement environmental video games to encourage the care of our planet.
