Venezuelan migration in Peru

In recent years, Venezuelan migration has been seen to Peru. This is due to the accelerated inflation suffered by Venezuela by the dictatorship of President Nicolás Maduro. This inflation causes poverty, crime and despair in Venezuelans, since the Venezuelan currency has devalued to such a degree that a dollar is equivalent to 24399 bolivars. In such a way it has been difficult to buy food with the minimum wage they receive. These facts cause Venezuelans to be forced to migrate to other countries to obtain food and necessary goods, which cannot now obtain it in their country. The migration destinations preferred by Venezuelans are Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Peru. Therefore, to date, more than half a million citizens from Venezuela have been received. In this regard, many of the Peruvians have questioned whether or not to continue allowing the entry of the Venezuelan population to Peru. We consider that it should not continue allowing the entry of the Venezuelan population to Peru.

According to Gustavo Meza Cuadra, Minister of Foreign Affairs, resources in Peru to meet Venezuelan migration have already been exceeded. Peru in the last three years has received approximately 800.000 Venezuelan immigrants. Due to this situation, the Peruvian government on June 15, 2019 demanded passports to emigrants from Venezuela. As a measure of citizen control and security, since due to this situation an increase in crime has been identified in Peru, in recent months Venezuelans have been expelled who do not have a passport, they entered illegally or have crimes. On the other hand, it must be clarified that, the social services of Peru are limited and precarious to meet the needs of many more people. This has caused the minister to meet with the high representatives of foreign policy in order to deal with the effects of Venezuelan migration (a problem that is not only from Peru). To show the need for some economic contribution from an organism to combat this problem.

On the other hand, the massive income of Venezuelan citizens increase citizen insecurity in Peru. The percentage figures that measure crime in the country have been increased by the income of Venezuelans. These staged 5,767 complaints for criminal acts between 2016 to May 25, 2019, and it was recorded that each year it was increasing, this figure represents 55% of complaints against foreigners. Most are for family violence, crimes against heritage, for injuries and homicides. According to the National Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirincri), Venezuelan criminals are extremely violent, reckless and boast of their crimes. The increase in the number of immigrants entering with identity documents and falsified police records to the country, 140 Venezuelans were registered, in which 52 Venezuelans register a history for crime of homicide, aggravated robbery, illegal possession of weapons and rape. In addition, Dirincri has dismantled more than 20 bands made up of Venezuelans.

In addition to this, Venezuelan migration in Peru led to the existence of greater overmoo. As is known, this is based because from the entry of foreigners a significant increase in informal jobs has occurred since, in the city, 3.34 %increased, while formal employment only increased by 1.68%, according to the INEI. On the other hand, immigrants are willing to work for salaries below those established, thus displacing Peruvian workers. This has been classified by various media as discrimination against Peruvian workers and made a measure implementation to prevent the majority of people working in a company being foreign. Such is the case of Sunafil, who established that only 20% of workers of a company could be foreigners.

In conclusion, we consider that it should not continue allowing the entry of the Venezuelan population in Peru.We support this idea since this will avoid a greater expense of resources than in the country because these are very scarce and most of the time it is insufficient to cover the entire Peruvian population, in addition to a great decrease in citizen insecurity and theSUB -EMPLOYE IN PERU.It should be noted that in order to meet the denial of the income of Venezuelan citizens it is necessary for the authorities to take an initiative for this to be carried out.For example, a greater implementation of technology for greater security on the falsification of identity both at the borders and at airports.
