Understanding of artificial intelligence and its applications

Introduction

The following essay arises from the need to understand artificial intelligence (AI) together with its applications. Starting first from its meaning, although its exact definition does not exist, since the context and situation in which there have been several characters that gave their contribution from their point of view with each of their definitions depends on. One of them is John McCarthy who uses artificial intelligence expression to describe it as "science and ingenuity to make smart machines, especially smart computer programs".

Meanwhile that in recent years, information technologies (ICT) have advanced considerably. This increases artificial intelligence, which has been transformed into the necessary subject of all industries. Great fragment of them have estimated their incorporation into business due to the benefits that can be achieved.

As mentioned above, AI is something that serves machines but also people. The main characteristic that most interests humanity is the elimination of monotonous tasks, which implies that an artificial intelligence system continues to do the homework as it was ordered, regardless of the times it should do so. This also leads to minimizing errors and human costs, since they are no longer necessary.

Developing

While the concept of AI cannot be defined exactly. According to the etymological dictionary "of Chile" the word intelligence comes from the Latin intelligentia, which in turn come from the intellegere verb and is composed of Inter between and legend to read, which means understanding or perceiving. On the other hand, according to the same dictionary, the artificial word comes from the artificial Latin that is composed of ars, artis that means work that is expressed with great creativity, and face that it means doing.

If it is together, everything can be said that artificial intelligence is: intelligence made or manufactured by the human, that is, not produced by thought, but made so that it produces knowledge or solves problems.

The evolution of this type of intelligence has been long and very complex, since it dates back to beliefs that the Jewish people had, which consists of placing an order in a scroll and putting them to a golem, so, he fulfilled them until hislast thrust that was given to IA to found computer programs that can solve problems and get goals in proportion to the world as in humans.

The English mathematician Alan Turing could have been the precursor of the AI as they are known today, in addition, he gave a dissertation about it in 1947. It could also have been the first to conclude that artificial intelligence was better investigated by programming computers than building machines. At the end of the 1950 period, there were many researchers in AI, and their generality based their mission on computer programming.

Thanks to your knowledge today you have the Turing test is a test or challenge created to find out if a machine is intelligent or not. The test is formed by written evidence in which you have to communicate with an interlocutor who can be human or machine, whose purpose is to try to distinguish them. If the machine is not discovered, it will have overcome the test.

To understand this magnificent and complex intelligence it is necessary, predict and solve future problems.

The AI is based on data and algorithms, for the usual it is usually the following:

  • Identify the problem.
  • Analyze above situations.
  • All possible variables related to the problem that you want to solve are studied.
  • Through a statistics system, select the future result of that problem, always based on already known data.
  • Once the system has all the data, it generates the most feasible solution to the problem.

In this way, AI learns how to solve the problem for the next similar situation you find.

As its functioning has already been understood, it is time to know their applications within the life of human beings, thus responding to the reason for their study and progress throughout the history of AI.

These aforementioned processes are applied in real systems in a wide variety of branches and problems:

  • Management and control: intelligent analysis, setting of objectives.
  • Manufacture: design, planning, programming, monitoring, control, project management, simplified robotics and computerized vision.
  • Education: practical training, exams and diagnosis.
  • Engineering: Design, Control and Analysis.
  • Equipment: design, diagnosis, training, maintenance, configuration, monitoring and sales.
  • Cartography: Interpretation of photographs, design, solving cartographic problems.
  • Professions: Advocacy, Medicine, Accounting, Geology, Chemistry.
  • Software: Teaching, specification, design, verification, maintenance.
  • Armament systems: electronic warfare, objective identification, adaptive control, image process, signal process.
  • Data process: education, natural language interface, smart access to data and database managers, intelligent data analysis.
  • Finance: Planning, Analysis, Consulting.

But also has numerous commercial applications in the world currently as it is:

  • Configuration: Distribution selection of components of a computer system.
  • Diagnosis: computer hardware, computers networks, mechanical equipment, medical problems, telephone breakdowns, electronic instrumentation, electronic circuits, automobile breakdowns.
  • Interpretation and analysis: Geological data for oil prospecting, chemical compounds, signal analysis, complex mathematical problems, evaluation of military threats, electronic circuit analysis, biological data (coronary, brain and respiratory), radar, sound and infrared information information.
  • Monitoring: equipment, process monitoring, manufacturing and management of scientific processes, military threats, vital functions of hospitalized patients, financial data in telemprer -drilled paper strips, industrial and governmental reports.
  • Planning: Assets and Liabilities Management, portfolio management, credits and loans, contracts, workshop work program, project management, experiments planning, printed circuit card production.
  • Smart interfaces: Hardware (fiscal) instrumentation, computer programs, multiple databases, control panels.
  • Natural Language Systems: Interface with Databases in Natural Language, Tax Management (Accounting Aid), Consulting on Legal topics, Farm Planning, Banking Systems Consulting.
  • Design systems: microcircuit integration in very high scale, synthesis of electronic circuits, chemical plants, buildings, bridges and dams, transport systems.
  • Computerized vision systems: selection of parts and components, assembly, quality control.
  • Software development: automatic programming.

conclusion

Artificial intelligence is an increasingly closer and evident environment in the existence of the human being. Its progress raises debates and challenges of all kinds (ethical, legal, etc.) that possibly the machines know how to solve the people. The limit is close to great rush, meanwhile, the issues that most concern reach each of the layers of society.

It is possible that one of those issues is whether humanity has the right to create aware machines, capable of solving their own problems to the point that they can get out of control. Because Turing’s test or test does not resolve, this dilemma always be like a question that only in the distant future could be resolved.

In spite of everything with AIs, great technological advances have been achieved that have improved the quality of life of people as in the case of blind people the AI of their mobile phone tells him that key is the one who is pressing and even himsuggests what this individual wants to look for. The maximum splendor of this type of intelligence will only be achieved by leaving aside the ethical and cultural issues of today’s society, so that it can continue to improve and understand the universe that surrounds it.
