For this reason, organizations sought how to differentiate themselves from the rest, and that factor called it quality, which at first referred to the control that must be taken in the production stage with the objective of creating lasting goods.
It is then, that different authors begin to emerge proposing theories of how a company comes to provide a quality service or product. In this way, quality takes a different concept, which involves the satisfaction of the consumer’s need. The representatives mentioned in the research share the idea that quality should not be limited to being only in the production process, but also has to be present throughout the structure of the organization.
And for that, it is necessary to search for continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and processes standardization and control. At present, many companies adopt management tools that, duly complemented with good strategic planning, allows them to have competitive advantages and achieve levels of excellence compared to other entities.

This work is investigative and descriptive. Is elaborated to learn more about the theory of total quality and its application. The first chapter briefly tells the life and work of four of the most important representatives in the field. They are w. Deming, j. Juran, k. In the second chapter, which is the theoretical body of research, we seek to understand the concept of total quality from the evolution of the simple quality concept. Details in stages how this definition has been modified to become an integral objective.
