Tolerance, a great virtue

"Tolerance is anger dominated by reason"

Peter Ustinov (1921-2004).

Tolerance refers to the ability to respect everything that is different from the same, that we do not share and even that it cannot be repressed;that is, opinions, beliefs, feelings, customs, among others. It is established as a virtue of the human being that allows us to endure what is almost impossible to endure; On the one hand, it makes a person or a group of people strive to know, understand and value others, and on the other to enforce differences, in order to establish good relationships between all people. Therefore, from this arises that tolerance influences human behavior and social coexistence;since it is a capacity that allows acceptance among people. Next, I will detail how tolerance influences human behavior and social coexistence.

First, tolerance is a social virtue that promotes adequate social coexistence;since tolerance allows the development of attitudes of acceptance and support among people. “Tolerance is neither indifference, nor weakness is rather a social virtue that leads to jointly sharing with others the common good and mutual respect.". Every person who practices tolerance is one that despite the differences offers their unconditional support to others, and develops their social life in the framework of respect; Therefore, this person manages to have a good social coexistence with all the people around him, since both respect and solidarity are factors capable of allowing that. In view of this, tolerance allows adequate social coexistence, since it causes the person who develops it to have good attitudes with all the people around him, such as solidarity and respect.

Second, we can affirm that tolerance has an impact on people’s human behavior, in view of the fact that they are able to influence how a person is conducted with others. “Tolerance is, in the first place, the recognition of truth and, secondly, the appreciation of human dignity.". Human behavior is capable of developing according to the measure in which a person is tolerant, since basically a person who is tolerant reflects everything that represents tolerance. Because of this, it is defined that human behavior depends on how tolerant a person is, if one is tolerant to value the truth and appreciate despite all human dignity.

Finally, educating in tolerance generates good social coexistence, since educating in tolerance is to put the basis for building a society without barriers. “Learning to be tolerant is to learn to live together: get out of ethnocentrism and know other ways of doing and living;Learn respect for other cultures, social, religious, ethnic, political environments.”(CEFA). Educating in tolerance is to open people’s minds, getting them to admit that there are different ways of seeing things, thinking and acting those that you have, and that doing so is as legitimate for others as they are for themselves. Therefore, if we educate ourselves in tolerance we will accept each other, and develop a good social coexistence;Because educating ourselves in tolerance is basic for us to live harmoniously as a group.

In conclusion, it is highlighted that tolerance influences human behavior and social coexistence, since it is evidenced that it makes it many to form and effectively. In this way, tolerance becomes one of the most beautiful virtues that the human being can have and one of which promotes social coexistence; The differences make us the same reason, think and adopt tolerance in our life, because I consider that tolerance will allow us to be happy and live in peace. The best way to promote tolerance to all is starting from home, in view of the fact that the family is the fundamental group for every person, where you should begin to settle good human behavior and adequate social coexistence; Also because knowing, sharing and enriching other realities, ways of life, cultures, etc., is something wonderful.
