The work Oedipus Rey

Introduction

In the case of the work "Oedipus King" by Sophocles I can appreciate how the playwright uses issues which, according to the time they were not considered as taboo themes or liberal themes that in turn were part of their culture, there are alsoimmersed in the work different characteristics referring to the way of appreciating or seeing the world or also known as “worldviews of the world.”These worldviews that are appreciated within the work Oedipus Rey.

Developing

They are also part of the culture by which the work was developed and are: parricide, incest, self-tank or suicides. If we talk about parricide, I can express the scene in which Oedipus tries to escape his tragic destiny, but kills Layo without knowing that this was his true father, fulfilling part of the prophecy that the oracle told him about his destiny “And it is not another, but myself, who such curses has launched on me. I’m cumbling the dead bed with the same hands with which I killed him."

To continue with part of the worldviews of the world, I can give connection with what is destiny, which can be considered as a revolutionary theme such as: in which the main character named Oedipus finds out of his destiny, which wasAbout that he would marry his mother and kill his father, he triedan issue that we find throughout the work.

Mainly in the first episode, in which the character of Oedipus kills the sphinx, a beast that frightened the people, and is crowned as king and in turn was united in marriage with Yocasta, queen and widow of Layo, which turned out to be alsoHis mother, "but now that it is possession of the empire he had before, and I have his bed and the same woman he fertilized, and mine would be his children, if those who had not lost them". On the other hand we also have the self-lation or suicide that is when a person decides to take their lives.

We find this issue in the exodus when Yocasta learns that Oedipus, her husband and king, was also her son, she decided to take her life and we also see the case of Oedipus which, when she realized that she could not avoid fate, she startedThe eyes with the flourGold with which the mantle had fastened, wounded his eyes saying that he would not see the sufferings he suffered anymore."

Including more to what culture is, I can recognize that if there was sexual and matrimonial relationship between relatives, that is, this was an issue that for them was common or monotonous at that time. Oedipus Rey is a work which contains, reflects and highlights the values of society and topics which currently can be considered as taboo, while at the time when the work is located they were themes considered normal because they wereissues that were seen daily. There were also issues which became inspiration for some psychoanalysts.

As was the incest, which was part and was inspiration for the creation of the psychoanalyst theory. Sigmund Freud, said his theory, who talked about the sexual love he awakens towards his mother by his son, in which possessive jealousy to his mother, is considered as a rival about his father and about any other person and about any other personthat shows you affection. It is from the case of Oedipus where this complex of the psychoanalyst Freud was born, thanks to the love relationship which carried the main character Oedipus by Yocasta, which after a time of having been married and even after becoming a king, he learns thatOedipus was his son.

conclusion

Within this work we can see both psychological and cultural aspects of the time which help us a better analysis of the context in which it develops, being able to see how these are related because thought and acting comes from a cultureAnd time in which it is, that is, it is its cause and as these are analyzed by experts and specialists such as psychologists, we can thus recognize and find justification for these actions, as we could see in the main aspect that wasThe incest.

Which expands more my knowledge and allowing me to see it from both perspectives. This is how we can conclude that within the works we can find several factors responsible for the actions and consequences of facts and these are even more related to their historical context
