At present, then the role of each professional in society is important, since each one contributes in some way to the development of the same. In the field of natural sciences and mathematics, there is engineering. Taking into account a topic like the selected in the research article is very relevant, because it makes known how professionals in this engineering branch are developed in Chilean society, and taking this small sample of the population studied, it isI could say that it can be the behavior of other professionals in the same field in other countries, thus following the role of the engineer in society, a pattern that could be defined in variance according to the norms that govern the society of individuals. To achieve this universities, through their training processes, need to develop open curricula, in a wide, flexible profile, where novel and innovative learning predominate, with the aim of contributing to the preparation of updated, creative and carriers professionals, not onlyof knowledge of the specialty, but of skills and abilities to make decisions, assume social responsibilities, elements that allow developing a competent professional, capable of interacting and responding to economic, environmental problems and scientific-technological development, faced by contemporary society. With the previous two arguments it is intended to reach the premise that, the academic training in professional performance is vital, however, other performance skills such as leadership or linking with the environment will depend a lot on each individual and theirway to develop in the field activities corresponding to your career.
Then, the previous analysis could be taken as an indicator of what are the areas where universities that form both engineers and any other professional should be focused, since, leadership or innovation are not skills that are acquired “studying” but rather but rather, through the link with the environment.
