THE RIGHT OF CHILDREN AND ARMED CONFLICTS
The present work aims to make society known the problem that is generated when there are armed conflicts between nations, a very important issue will be addressed more specificly that is not taken into consideration by the media such as the humiliation suffered by theChildren amid armed confrontations.
This work is going to deal with the abuse that children receive during the war clashes that occur around the world such as in Israel, Palestine, Colombia, Russia, Bosnia, Liberia, Sudan, Rwanda, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Sri Lanka since they areThe places where drastic situations are presented most, it should be noted that children are the most harmed in these circumstances, because many of these are separated from their relatives and take them to places where they are used to participate in the quarrelsInternational.
Other children during the war lose their relatives and are orphans, this is one of the causes for which they are forced to look for new stable places where there is food and can maintain a quiet life, but who on certain occasions fail to fulfillobjectives. The violence generated by the people who are leaders of each of the war sides will be taken into account since these are the ones who force children to participate in the disputes presented at any time, regardless of whether it is night oron day. Also the way in which they are forced to use the different armaments that are dangerous, even more for them that do not have the minimum idea of how to use them.
Once all the theme to study in this work has been addressed, the essential points for a better understanding by the reader will be exhibited in a more explicit way.
How Edna Iturralde in the work "When they silenced the weapons" presents the abuse of children by the army "
“Child abuse is defined as abuses and the neglect that objects under 18 are objects, and includes all types of physical or psychological abuse, negligence and commercial or other exploitation that cause or can cause damage to theirHealth ”(World Health Organization, 2013).
The idea that the author of the work mentioned above is is to present a simple version and with clear intentions of all the situations that pass the various nations in the world, in which the children are mainly affected.
Edna Iturralde through the work "When they shut up" directly shows us the way in which children are decimated during wars, rather the abuse they receive from the army, because these people deceive children and recruit themBy force in the militias and it is here that they are exploited, taking the name of "Soldados Children". Other people who belong to the army send the airplanes to different places to launch small, brilliant and butterfly explosives, which gives an appearance of toys, this especially attracts children who, when trying to collect them, die or dieThey are mutilated.
Children who already belong to military groups are granted rifles and are necessarily taken to war zones, it is here where they are harmed since they do not know how to use the weapons, therefore, they are usually the first to die in these fighting. The leaders of each military group force children to dig pits to bury the bodies of the fallen previous days;Normally surprising attacks are given where most injured are minors.
Many of the children who lose their parents, are forced to look for a better place to live or rather are forced to flee their country, taking into account that they are not caught by the army or that they can meet someexplosive, which would cause the death of these innocent people.
I can indicate that the reason why military groups choose children is because they can easily manipulate them since they do not have the minimal idea of what they have to do until the precise time they give them the indications, in addition children cannotchallenge authority and its only option is to obey each of its orders.
Child abuse during wars in different countries of the world
Children’s abuse by the Army in Iberia
Certain people belonging to the army are responsible for making 5 brands to children in the chest, where the heart is supposed to be since it is one of the traditions they have in Iberia, these brands indicate that they are the symbol of the lion, due dueTo which it is one of the bravest animals in the jungle, the infants who have these brands get to feel more secure and protected for the reason that they have the so -called magic of the lion (when the weapons were silent, pages. 49-50). These same people also provide toxic substances or drugs to boys pretending to be magical pills which would make them think they are stronger and that they are able to fight against the other sides.
Child abuse by the army in Sudan
"Child traffic is one of the forms of human trafficking, it is a practice of kidnapping, disappearance and concealment of the identity of the little ones, often through clandestine births or illegal adoptions" (Valencia, 2013). This is one of the situations that Edna Iturralde shows in her work, also making known the abuse towards the child;Main object of this situation:
After selling myself as a slave in a market in the city of Ed Daein (Sudan), I went to live with who my mistress would be, the widow isa ahmed … the hours that I was tied on the back of a horse, I had ground my bonesAnd I had a lot of stomach pain. They forced me to eat opening my mouth like an animal and closing my nostrils to swallow … they gave me another name so that over time I would forget who I was and where it came from.. (When the weapons were silent, p. 62)
Through this the abuse of children is known in any circumstance, which cannot defend themselves, much less do something to be released since the people who buy them treat them badly, it should be emphasized that not everyone, but in many cases these abuseThey can bring very serious consequences for infants because they do not receive a good diet. Few are the boys who manage to escape from these situations and manage to meet their loved ones, while others manage to escape, but they no longer have where to go more because their relatives have died, from this they walk from a place to a place toanother looking for people to support them, to provide food and refuge;Although they think they are in good place it is not so since army people do their best to find more children and lead them to participate in fighting, they catch them again or simply bomb their shelters leaving injured and dead.
Despite all the fighting that are made, the little ones have the need to attend school, but it is here that the problems arise since the army takes this occasion to be able to kidnap them and take them to the military groups, this also gives usTo know Edna Iturralde is his work:
Boys and girls of the town were kidnapped, two weeks ago, at the time of entering school. Then, they took them to a military camp where they were given a rifle and told them that this was their new home because their homeland, Liberia, needed them as soldiers and not as students. (When the weapons were silent, p. 48)
Through this, it can be seen that education is denied for the simple fact of having them in the camps of militias, fighting, using dangerous armaments, mistreating them and enslaving them.
On several occasions people who take boys to military camps give them training, but it is not adequate since they are rather tortured and die during these practices.
The infants who have lost their parents during the war are convinced by the military that they can avenge the death of their relatives participating in conflicts, through this the toddlers let themselves be convinced and fall into the trap.
Child abuse by the army in Israel and Palestine
As Israel and Palestine are already known, they are in constant war problems that “Israeli soldiers perform ambushes in order to stop the boys of Palestine and take them to participate in the other conflicts or kill them, but many of these children are taken toprison since they launch stones to defend themselves from Israeli soldiers ”(Tselem, 2016). Through this contribution it is more clearly implied that the toddlers cannot defend themselves since the army uses children as shields in order to deal with people who manifest themselves due to everything that is happening.
Children’s abuse by the Army in Colombia
It is said that in some cases the recruitments of infants are not forced, this occurs voluntarily and others because they have no choice, as one of the chapters of the work is seen:
Jairo had joined the group of insurgents after his father’s death. They insisted, I can’t refuse and accepted. Now he was in a rebel military camp in the Serranía de San Lucas, in the western region of Colombia … (when weapons raised, p. 24)
In certain military camps the boys are especially trained to participate in the different ambush, to use dangerous or explosive armaments; Many of the children who are fleeing are in danger of death, but if they decide to surrender to a military group they will be forgiven, but it must be taken into account that entering the little ones mandatory in the military fields goes against their rights.
Children’s abuse by the Army in Russia
The majority of soldiers who are in the different camps belonging to the army are the children of all the commanders of other armed security forces. Like Colombia, the Russian army is also responsible for teaching the toddlers who are in the camps to jump in parachute and mount assault rifles, they even give them several tactics so that they can fight correctly, but still they are harmed, since many of these do not wear adequate clothing for these fights or are not yet well prepared to fight.
Children’s abuse by the Army in Bosnia
The army uses camouflaged cars as ambulances to take advantage of a large number of infants so that they also attend war, but as messengers, porters and servants and then otorgal weapons and can also go to fighting.
Children’s abuse by the Army in Rwanda
Both adults and children are convicted of death, it is for that reason that some parents are in need of sending their children to other sides so that they are not mistreated by the army, this situation Edna Iturralde reflects it in a fragment of theirconstruction site:
As soon as the sun came out and taking advantage that the soldiers were distracted by putting people in line, her father helped her to escape into the street through a window of the sacristy where one of the glass was missing. Outside the friend who later sent her abroad to be adopted by a European family … (when they shut up their weapons, p. 69)
With this case the point of regreting the suffering of all children who are adopted during these difficult situations knowing that they are away from their relatives and their home.
During this situation, enemies cannot share their food since it is one of the old traditions and if they do it is because they would stop being, so many children starEven if many of these minors get sick do not give good medical care or rather they do not take them to medical centers because most doctors are threatened and flee after everything that is happening, for this reason children choose to use herdsMedicinal to heal.
Children’s abuse by the Army in Northern Ireland
Here they recruit children since they are very cheap and easy to dominate, many of these are ordered to transport explosives, make them perform forced labor, they even make them prepare food for the commanders. Soldados children are considered favorable to participate in these conflicts since they quickly comply with orders without revealing themselves to their superiors. The Army is responsible for catching children anywhere in the streets, schools, orphanages, shelter camps or from their own homes.
Children’s abuse by the army in Iraq
Many times the army sends the airplanes to launch mines which are confused by several rations of food since they are the same color, which is why all people especially infants die because with just touching those mines they quickly explodeThis is what Edna Iturralde makes us known in his work emphasizing that the armed forces have different methods to attack children.
The majority of the armies are responsible for locating bombs so that they give a moment explode, thus causing the death of many innocent people, in several cases only people and more than everything to minors since they know that they immediately seek a refuge,It is here that they are deceiving them saying that they will be fine if they attend the camps with them, but since they are not aware of what they do in those camps, they choose to attend, this is another way in which the soldiers begin to recruit millions ofminors.
On several occasions, children who are already in the military fields are forced to attend school or schools, on the one hand, it is correct, but on the other hand, not since the commanders are responsible for sending them explosives in their suitcases thus risking lifeOf these, because at any time they can exploit, which causes the death of many of them who also attend educational schools.
Children’s abuse by the army in Sri Lanka
Like other places that are at war, here they form groups with different names made up of several children, one of these groups is announced by Edna Iturralde in one of the chapters in his work, indicates that the group most feared by the othersPeople is the so -called "Tigres de Tamil", apparently this group is very strict since, if one of the commanders sees crying any of the children who are inside this squad, the punishment consists of receiving several lashes if the child islucky, or if not palazos on the soles of the feet was the ordinary. (When the weapons were silent, p. 89). In this same chapter, it announce that there is a group especially for girls where they are also forced to belong. If the boys and girls are willing to stop participating in the fighting, their death is already insured.
Many of the girls who are in the military camps are forced to recruit more infants who are waiting for the same destination, they also require themThese orders are punished causing death.
When parents decide to look for their children, who have been captured by the army, both are also in danger since they are reunited in the camps are often discovered, the military kill children’s parents and they give them difficult activities.
Minors found in the different military fields are also forced to wear simple clothes, so that commanders can distinguish them from the other people with whom they are going to fight and if they do not use it correctly they also receive great punishments.
Several army people force children to return home, but with the aim of harming their relatives either giving them explosives in the form of food or attacking them directly; This is also done with another purpose of verifying that the child is obedient and thus see that he has no compassion on anything, but we must take into account that the fact that children adapt to performing these atrocities have been victims of actionsthat the commanders make against them.
Through all the abuse that infants receive by the army they remain with great sequelae, many can be disabled or psychologically affected, which causes these children not to have a pleasant future. The life of soldiers is not easy since every day they must receive long hours of training and many often do not receive enough food. The military does not care if it rains or suns away anyway these children have to do their different tasks.
It is said that "the boys who are captured when trying to desert from the state army are usually returned to the camp and are forced to stay lying down in front of the entire recruit company" (Becker, 2008), through this you can see anotherform of abuse that children receive during these conflicts.
Once everything that the exposure of children in conflict areas entails, it must be made aware of the evil that is being causing, since those children have not developed in a conducive environment in the future could becomepeople with some kind of difficulty to develop within society. It is unheard of observing that international organizations created to end this type of conflicts such as the United Nations Organization (UN), do not assume a leading role in the peaceful mediation of these conflicts;and organizations responsible for the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, do not take the post in the development of programs or plans to reduce the consequences that are developed in children accused of armed conflicts.
Many children’s rights defense agencies have alerted world public opinion about the existence of the so -called "welded boys and girls", since these have been pushed to become such due to orphanhood, helplessness, poverty, poverty,Even the forced expulsion of the places where they were born or shared with each of their family and friends.
"’ Unless we teach children peace, someone else will teach them violence. ".F.)
