Among the varieties of wolves, is the so -called gray wolf, which results in colors that include black and white. One of the mysteries of the black wolf is that it originated from the union between species, gray wolves and domestic dogs. This led to a genetic change that has allowed an increase in the population of this kind of wolves.

The black wolf is more common to see it in forested areas, since due to their color they can camouflage more easily in this type of habitat. It would not be sure its survival in snowy areas, where the white gray wolves live.

In general, wolves are very feared and little accepted animals, because of their tendency to kill domestic and livestock animals, all this led to be one of the favorite animals of hunters. In some cases the wolves hunt was activated by local governments, which offered rewards to hunters. As a result of these actions in the twentieth century the population of Lobos was reduced to 200.000 animals, when at other times he had been millions.

The population of Gray Lobos has also been affected by other types of human activities. Among other things humans and wolves have formerly competed for some foods such as caribu, bison, elce and deer. This has caused that as humans increased the hunt for these dams, the wolves have left less to subsist.

The increase in deforestation by man’s action have also jeopardized.

Conservation efforts from that moment were to declare as a criminalization the hunting of wolves, the introduction of wolves to areas in which they no longer existed, and an increase in the populations of wolves in protected areas, such as the Yellowstone National Park. These conservation efforts have achieved very good results, so gray and black wolves no longer face threats of rapid extinction.
