That night of May 1954, the young Elvis Presley who had only 19 years of age, was visibly nervous. His friend, Ronnie Smith a 16 -year -old teenager with whom he had played in a couple of opportunities, had gained an audition at the Hi Hat club with the Eddie Bond band, a local musician just a few years older than Elvis, who alreadyHe was established in Memphis’s music scene, and who needed a vocalist for his group.

He was accompanied by his girlfriend, Dixie Locke, and while waiting for his turn to audition, they drank a Coca Cola. Eddie Bond would approach the table to greet, asking Elvis that he did to make a living, who would answer that he was driving a truck for Crown Electric, while Dixie did not stop hitting the table with his fingers in a clear demonstration of shame before theyour companion’s response.

Born in the city of Memphis, Tennessee, 1.July 1933, and dies at 79 years of age as a result of Alzheimer’s in the population of Bolivar, Tennessee on March 20, 2013.

Eddie Bond was a rockabilly guitarist and singer, better known for being the person who rejected an unknown Elvis Presley. Bond from an early age feels a great affinity for music. Influenced by the country songs of the time, he would start playing the guitar, and in 1955, he would release his first album with the small Ekko record label of Hollywood. The launch would draw the attention of Mercury Records, who would sign it the following year. With this seal he would record five albums, all in the Rockabilly genre, none of which was successful, although later his musical contribution was recognized by the Rockabilly Fame Hall.
