The importance of the appointment in writing
Academic and investigative writing is a rigorous process, which requires the proper use of authors -based arguments, which have previously addressed the chosen theme, what Gomez defines how: “Citar is to textually integrate a segment that comes from a source of consultation ”(p. 129), making it clear that before us someone else had already mentioned our ideas.
This process makes it necessary that when writing names the main author of the idea that we want to capture in our document, given as indicated by the author “it is a quality criterion in the elaboration of research documents; gives theoretical evidence, which makes it possible to express the critical route followed ”(p. 129). This exercise allows the writer to express his ideas in an organized way and in turn requires an exhaustive review of literature in order to strengthen his arguments.
It is worth mentioning that citing is giving recognition to those who already expressed what we want to communicate, of not doing so we can incur an error, so “the proper management of the appointment protects us from any suspicion of plagiarism and allows us to give the deserved credit to who have contributed their own to knowledge ”(p. 130) In this way, researchers who have developed similar projects to ours are given importance without copying their ideas, making use of them to reinforce ours.
To choose our appointments, we must perform an exercise prior to writing, the literature review, from there we select what ideas are necessary to build a new document, as expressed below: last the process of building the object of study and the phases that follow, protect and eliminate endless documents that have gone through our view. That direct experience with the consulted collection throws a corpus of useful documents, which is submitted to an analytical reading exercise which privileges the data that is in line with our object of study. (p.136) Therefore, the appointment in addition to giving credit to the authors, reflects how committed it is with the investigation, in what way followed the steps prior to the writing process.
In conclusion, academic writing is a process that requires planning, which is demonstrated in the final product, where the writer indirectly knows the revision of literature through properly cited arguments, either in different ways: keyword, Brief, long appointment or paraphrase, also giving credit to the authors who support their ideas.
