THE IDEA OF FREEDOM

Introduction

“The performance society is dominated in its entirety by the modal verb power, as opposed to the society of the discipline, which formulates prohibitions and uses the verb duty. From a certain productivity point, the word duty soon runs with its limit. For the increase in production is replaced by word power. (Eros agony). Within the capitalist society in which we live, and more precisely under the neoliberalist model that permeates with its logic and order every corner of human existence, power is exalted, defined as the ability or power to obtain goods.

Developing

The individual who believes is free undergoes a system that demands more and more, because, "you can". We live at the time when "nothing is impossible". So how to live with failure, with depression and heartbreak under a neoliberal positivist logic? I have been reflecting on this paradoxical freedom that pushes us to always have more, do more and be more; And in the choice to self-explore ourselves because we think it is our privilege and our possibility (power). The real result in work, school and love dynamics is that we are tired and depressed; This idea of power, this "if you can" become no longer.

And although it seems that we are free, of not wanting to be able, we realize that such an election in today’s society would end up not being feasible because it would mean not having the resources to support our life. Defining "eros" as a set of impulses inclined to pleasure. I understand that this Eros has obviously become a good of consumption and a freedom option, because we always seek more emotions, pleasures, possibilities and alternatives under the self-deception of freedom and finally we condemn ourselves to not loving. In my view, the only way to live with failure, depression and heartbreak is to develop awareness.

By conscience I do not understand only to have a critical position against the real, but also to be aware of our condition of not being really free. In the reading that Camus makes of Sisyphus in "The myth of Sisyphus" this becomes a paradoxical hero: his sentence is the hardest that a human being can receive, that of doing a meaningless job and that never comes to an endAnd his eternal pain is to be aware of it. Sisyphus must load a rock of the same daily weight above a mountain and when it is about to concretize its work the rock falls again to its starting point. So Sisyphus has no freedom, it is condemned.

What does this absurd hero have in common with our feinta freedom? Well, we are not really free. In this lack of freedom there is something that saved Sisyphus from a perennial unhappiness, being aware. Since Sisyphus knows what is going to happen to him, he decides how to feel and, this decision is his most supreme freedom. We also, when we realize the economic-political scheme in which we live (our stone-sisy), we can decide how to feel with respect to sadness and love. An eros thus raised would be an erotic experience where the other would have a place and could be the one that is disconnected from our desires. That it is as we would want it to be, because the exercise of consciousness would already be made.

I think to be aware, we must first identify the stone as in Sisyphus. According to Franco Berardi in his book "The uprising", economic laws are not a science, but rules created by low humans market principles that seek to increase abstract concepts such as the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and that in social terms havedemonstrated failures and risks. That is, we understand the complexity of a system that has no answers, but it has laws that resemble dogmas that fork between good and evil. This is the stone of neoliberalism. A question always present in the course of history is “Who are we?"Or" What is the essence of human nature?

According to Franco Berardi and Byung-Chul’s vision, we are individuals defined by a market system, today everything has its value that is measured according to the free market satisfaction criteria. For this purpose, the Korean philosopher speaks of "mere life" and says: "Who does not have the ability to death does not risk his life. Instead of going to death with himself, he remains in himself within death ”(agony of Eros). Do not surrender to death means becoming slaves of the system and condemning ourselves to the impossibility of loving, we have turned masters and slaves of ourselves. To my way of seeing a consequence of this is that we have become (I refer especially to my generation) unable to feel.

conclusion

Just as the market constantly offers better products and alternatives we seek the satisfaction of a need in erotic experience and life experience. We are moved by the novelty and hooks the illusion of having "the product" in vogue of the moment and that meets our needs. If we work and explode for always having more, we also anesthet and cool to always have more love encounters;Avoiding at all costs of feeling pain or something not contemplated and unpleasant, we finally end up not feeling. Avoid vulnerability to exclude the other of our speech and become narcissists.
