The human being related to science

Introduction

It is clear that, for a long time, it has been believed that science has no limits, that the human being if it is raised, can solve any mystery or uncertainty. In this work I intend to demonstrate that science does have limits, since, even if it uses very reliable methods, there are certain questions that cannot be asked.

Human beings by nature are the only ones capable of modifying the environment where we are, in order to adapt it to our needs. On the other hand, the rest of living beings are in need of being those who adapt to the environment, and perhaps for that, we are the dominant species.

Developing

Science reflects on nature, not about itself, and the problems that arise are the stimuli that make it evolve. From the first questions the first answers arose, and even if they were in the form of mythological stories or theories, he soon emerged who made use of reason and formulated a counterpart to these theories, applying some science and experimentalism.

At first there were not so many sciences, for example, medicine was previously called physics, and it was not distinguished much from what chemistry is today. Thus little by little, the sciences began to distinguish themselves, some by the method and others by the form, and in that way the different branches of science began to form.

To this day they have evolved greatly, and today’s world could not be sustained without them. However, it is worth mentioning that science cannot be sustained by itself, it needs some elements that do so, and these are: economics, politics, ethics and culture. We can even talk about a fifth element, this is because today we know that science cannot be done without technology, so it is called techno-science.

In science, we can talk about a globally used method in order to reach a conclusion and end up solving a problem.

This method is called a scientific method, which can be divided into three different processes: the deductive, inductive and hypothetical deductive method. This is why it is the most reliable method currently, since it consists of three different processes to which to opt for when trying to solve a problem.

The first method, the deductive, part of general foundations to reach the particular, the case in which you are. This reaches logical conclusions based on a set of theories, indicating that the conclusions are previously expressed by the propositions themselves. This is why it would only be enough to perform an analysis of them to know a result. However, it is very important that these propositions be true, because the truth of the conclusion extracted depend on them.

The second method, the inductive, has the opposite sense, part of inspections and studies of particular events to achieve a general condition. What this procedure is about is to accumulate factors, as many as possible, so that they verify our theory. An example would be to maintain that since the eagles fly and are birds, the sparrows fly and are birds, the swallows fly and are birds, everything that flies is a bird (conclusion). This can mean a problem, since this conclusion would only be valid until another arrives with a premise that contradicts it.

The third and last method is the hypothetical deductive. This is the most scientifically used, since it is based on the observation of a phenomenon in order to perform a hypothesis that will be verified by deductive procedures.

A problem that we have had for a long time is to know if our thought has limits or we can get to know anything. According to Descartes, it was just a matter of time to know everything. But the truth is that we are not biologically configured for this, for example, a rat for a very list that is done cannot touch the piano, a man likewise, cannot become immortal or discover the last mysteries of the universe. What leads us to think, can we know the limits of our thinking?

One of the limits is related to the concepts of continuity and discretion. The continuity is relative to those subjects with a higher range of possibilities, such as mathematical analysis, while discretion is relative to those most accurate subjects and, therefore, with greater limitations, for example, physics. That is, while mathematics can be used in any circumstance almost without limitations, other subjects such as physics, being subjugated to nature and its whims, it is understandable that they have more limitations.

Another limit would be ignorance, if we cannot imagine something, it is clear that this something is impossible to solve, since, to begin with, we do not even have awareness of its existence. For example, global warming was something that was not a problem in past time, since we were not aware of it, however, today, it is one of the biggest problems that must be solved in advance.

On the other hand, we have the ethical limits, since, although science is able to solve any mystery, if that mystery is not considered ethical by the community, it will never be resolved. An example for this would be everything related to the alteration of human DNA.

conclusion

We have the economic limit, which is one of the most limiting, since, for example, we have sufficient knowledge to create a levitation train through the effect of superconductors at very low temperatures, but we are not able to make it come true, andthat the cost in liquid nitrogen and rare earth would be too high to maintain.
