The allegory of the myth of the cave
Actually the myth of cave is not a myth but an allegory written by Plato in his book "The Republic" in which he made his theory of knowledge known;which is the process we take to lead us to the knowledge of the truth.
The myth of the cavern is more described as a philosophical idea in which the author tells that a very dark cave were several prisoners which were chained with feet, hands and head so they remained static, with his eyes to the front observing the wallthat they were in front of them. Behind them there was a small wall and behind this a bonfire. The prisoners did not know the outside if not only the dark where they were. What they could only see were the shadows reflected by the fire light, of the people behind the wall. Examples of women with hats with ornaments could be put, man with hats with horns, people taken from the hands or embraced that reflected their shadow on the wall, the captives watching those reflexes got into their heads that the outside world was like this;Men with horns, women with things in the head and so on ..
One of them escaped, being outside all his thoughts he changed, although he took to get used to light what he discovered was shocking for him;Know the reality of things its forms, textures, etc. He returned euphoric to the cave to tell his friends what he saw, although when he entered the dark again, his eyes were blinded to adapt again. I have what he had seen and for worse they did not believe him crazy and made fun of him, flatly refusing to want to go out to see the light.
This story tries to show our reality;You could say that prisoners are we when we do not want to go to knowledge, we prefer to be sunk in ignorance, in conformism and not seek light, knowledge, truth;Maybe it’s for fear that our life will change in the blink of an eye but it only depends on us to get out of that darkness.
Sometimes we are also like that captive;That we knew reality and those who did not believe are the people to whom we can teach our knowledge but they do not accept it, they do not see it in a good way, rather we are the wrong ones for them.
What I think is that we must insist if we are in a similar situation, so that this person is gradually assimilating or understanding what we wantknowing we can also change others, change the world but always starting with ourselves. The ideals-ilusionists such as getting the couple or perfect love, the best quality of life and so many others;They are nothing compared to the power of knowledge, the every day knows new directions, new directions, that satisfaction that is felt when knowing is unique, which only we humans can possess it.
This process depends only on us, which takes our whole life, because every day we learn. We were all born with a cave full dark and without knowledge only we can leave, to get where we never imagine, palpating the reality of this world, although this implies the high and low of life, we can go out and look and always keep ourselves in the light.
