Synthesis of the songs IX and X of the Odyssey
Introduction
Odysseus reveals his real name and the place where he comes to Alcinoo and tells him that Calipso stopped him against his will before arriving with him. The tenth day Odysseus, also known as Ulysses, arrives along with its crew to the island of the Lotophages. His next stop was the land of the Cyclops;which are giants with one eye. Ulysses sailed and undertook his trip to Eolo;Not being able to get help on this island go to the province of Lostrigones. Odysseus and company arrive on the island of Circe;Here Ulises kills a deer and between it and the crew are eaten to the animal.
Developing
In the ninth Canto Ulysses tells Alcínoo about his adventures since he left Troy. It begins telling how it and its people took the city of Iesamaro, looted and fought against the Army of the City of the Cycons. In this Ulysses polis lost several of his men when his twelve vessels sailed from the place. Subsequently, Odysseus reached Lotophagos, a town that feeds on lotus plants, where three of the crew eat the plant and do not want to leave the island;Ulysses did not care about the wishes of these three men and forces them to return to the ship.
Upon reaching the territory of the Cyclops, Odysseus’s sailor sees a huge man and Ulysses decides to give him a goat skin full of liquor as a gift. Ulysses and his comrades arrive at the huge man cave. Upon arriving there, the Cyclops Polyphemo asks you who are. Ulysses presents with polypsy and asks for any help that he can offer to the travelers. Polyphemus asks Ulysses that where his ship is and he lies telling him that he was destroyed and that the men he saw were the survivors. Polyphemus eats some of Odysseus’s men and keeps the rest prisoners. The next day the navigators managed to escape.
In the tenth Ulysses song by telling Alcínoo. After escaping;Ulises and company navigate the Ponto and arrive at the island of Eolo (god of the wind). The deity hosts them for a month and before travelers start Eol.
conclusion
The protagonist of the story navigates for ten days until you reach Ithaca. When Ulysses slept his crew, he opens the odre that Eolo gave them;since they think that inside this there is gold and silver, but when the wind is opened with more force and the boat is thrown in the middle of a hurricane.
They are returned to the island from which they came, and Ulysses explains to Eol. The god of the wind thinks that Odysseus’s journey is cursed and refuses to help him again. Ulises sail again to the land of the lestrigones. The King and Queen of these lands devour one of Ulysses’s companions;The rest of the men run lucky and manage to escape when the lestrigones throw stones towards the ship when they tried to retire.
The brave adventurers arrive on the island of the goddess Circe. When Ulysses arrives, he kills a deer and prepares a feast for his crew and he. Ulises notices a cloud of smoke that comes out of the forest;But his men do not want to go to investigate because remembering their latest in charge fear something happens to them. Ulises sends a faction of their men, led by Euríloco, to investigate.
