Summary of Plato Socrates Apology

The author of the "Socrates Apology" is Plato. This text is part of the philosopher’s youth dialogues, which are characterized by defending and expressing, in the first place, the Socratic point of view. The literary form of which Plato is served in apology is the dramatic form. Apology describes a fact that decisively influenced Plato’s thought: Socrates’ appearance before the Court of Athens unjustly accused by sophists who, considering wise, had shown them the opposite by putting them in evidence.

Socrates seeks the truth for the truth itself as an inalienable duty.

Holds the defense of their convictions despite ingratitude, and dangers.

Socrates’ words are still incisive, the truth is very annoying when the walls of hypocrisy collapses.

Plato notes the injustice of which his teacher was a victim and highlights his great virtues.

Socrates’ morals, the congruence of his thinking with his actions, and his attitude towards the injustice that he was subject and cost him his life, deserved the place he occupies in the history of philosophy, Plato knew how to recognize him and, throughThe unparalleled art of their dialogues, reach posterity.

Socrates, as explained in this work was an abnormal type for people, since it did not act according to the canons of a common Athenian. The whole day spent looking for people with whom to dialogue, discuss virtue and face them to let them know that they were not as wise as they thought they were. … See more…

Due to their strong criticism of the sophists and to name the most famous people in the city in Athens. He also had many young followers (Plato for example), who according to those who prosecuted him, were corrupted by the teachings of the philosopher. This idea arises according to Plato that when asking these young people about what they learned from him, they respond anything, since they did not know how to understand it and consequently they respond that they learned not to believe in the gods. This is how he was also blamed for not believing in them.

This was how Socrates was prosecuted mainly for two reasons, for not believing in the gods and for corrupting young people. Socrates responds that the reputation of being an atheist is due to the bad languages of the young people who listen to it, the rumors that eventually grow and the work of Aristophanes. It is in the trial where the philosopher shows us his values and his thinking.

In conclusion we can say that Socrates postulates virtue as a goal by giving us an ethic in acting. Thanks to his thinking he had no fear of death, since he thought he should be faithful to what justice said. I admit that the information was very extensive in terms of the explanation and a bit poetic to express it from Plato.

However, it is a text to learn, but I honestly do not see it very accessible because the way to understand the subject itself is a bit confusing, since in parts it had a sense of just issuing information and in another added youto a dialogue so to speak.

The apology describes the fact of when Plato was prosecuted before the Court of Athens and was unjustly ruled by the sophists, they said they were wise people and when they felt attack by the wisdom of Socrates because they wanted to end it in a way that nobody believedThat he was a wise man, that showed the opposite making them themselves to evidence, since if they were as wise as they said they would have no problem that Socrates were in the same place as them.

Socrates always seeks the truth for the truth itself, for him it always has to be like that and I strongly think about what is true, you cannot look for a truth based on lies, that would already be a falsehood.

Socrates always defends his convictions regardless of what situation is, he does not let himself be manipulated by anything or anyone, although he risks to be in dangers, that speaks a lot about him, certainly that makes everything he says and thinks is for anyone somethingspoiled.

But certainly Socrates’s words are very incisive, that can be very annoying, since the truth when it is not hypocritical usually bothers people, nobody likes to tell us our truths in the face, since we do not know how to face it,We always prefer to tell us what we want to hear.

Plato always defended his teacher, firmly believed in the way Socrates acted, and always talk about how he was the victim of an injustice but always highlighting his virtues.

However, Socrates’ morals, the way he acted that he was always congruent with his thoughts and acts, and the way he acted before the injustice in which he was subject made his life cost him, but if not becauseThat and that Plato always firmly believed in him would surely not occupy the place he already has in the history of philosophy, Plato through his unmatched dialogues managed to reach posterity and possibly will always be Socrates as an example of life..

To conclude, it should be clarified that I did not enjoy reading this, since the issue is not very much like, but it is worth mentioning that it is never bad to learn a new and less theme if this will help us in the future.
