Social networks and its beneficial for society
That today a person does not have a profile on Facebook, I did not tweet sometimes a day, or hang photos on Instagram is a very rare exception. Especially if we talk about young people. The Internet era arrived in the mid -90s for the general public, and with it a new way of relating: social networks.
What is a social network? It is a means of communication in which people relate to other people in a virtual way;means that friendships, businesses and even sentimental relationships are established, without even having known in person. These new social dynamics are worrying since the young people of the new generations are losing the skills to relate to others of the same age in a healthy way.
Shielded behind the screen of a telephone or computer their social skills decrease, as well as the ‘tune’ for other people;Empathy and the simple task of approaching a friend and talking to someone new seem too complicated for young people accustomed to making friends through a smartphone. Many people have become addicted, as Roberto Balaguer points out in his book Internet: a new psychosocial space: ‘Internet is basically pleasant, hence he has a chance of becoming an addiction. An increase in self – esteem appears in cases of addictions, since they find in this ‘alternative life’ a pleasure, a feeling of intimacy, rarely achieved and a feeling of ‘being oneself”. But despite the harmful customs that social networks are growing between young people and children, these also bring us closer to the rest of the world and have us informed through news pages, or online radio;In the network we find useful information for tasks, educational films and series of interest. Used intelligently can be a great learning tool.
However, in social networks, and the Internet in general, the possibility of anonymity is lost since most people publish photos and information that is often unnecessary. It is sharing for sharing, without a formal objective, but for the simple pleasure of showing private life. The problem of this excessive sharing is that the borders are lost from where private life begins and where it ends because one of things is often found that, under other circumstances, should not compete. So you have to wonder why what is published is published and if one wants everyone to find out what is doing all the time. Probably not. The desire of celebrities to appear and to stay in a relevant position leads them to post photos and tweet indiscriminately, without any content filter;And young people imitate that and believe that everything is worth on social networks.
