Resilience in the Bible

An epic verse from the Bible in Philippians 4:13 "I can everything in Christ that strengthens me". Refers to that aspect of life called resilience, but what does our title mean? "It is the ability of a person or a group to recover in the face of adversity to continue projecting the future". View from psychology would be the way we face the various circumstances of life.

It is evident that;At some point in our lives we have gone through moments that have led us to a breaking point (breakwaters) that is, traumas, death of loved ones, toxic sentimental relationships among others. But despite these various situations of existence, the human being has the ability to overcome, overcome challenges and learn a life lesson. Robert Frost said: "In three words I can summarize everything I have learned about life: continue forward".

In the same way, there are those who prefer to stay in a state of lethargy and suffering thinking that life ends by "bitter drinks" immersed in crying and despair by episodes that have hit their life. But no less true is that each person will face each chapter of their existence from the maturity, reflection and sense that projects before the event happened. In short, it depends on you to be immersed in the depths of the dark sea or moving afloat.

To better understand it should be noted that resilience does not have to do with denial of the various acts we face in subsistence. The above is a value that is intrinsically, always pointing to the desire to improve and overcome ourselves. This was stated by Charles Darwin: “The species that survive are not the strongest, nor the fastest, nor the most intelligent;but those that adapt better to change ".

Anyway, practicing resilience will always allow us. Therefore, in the Gospel of St. Matthew 9,16-17 he will tell us: “And no one puts a new fabric in an old dress;because the removal when shruging pulls the dress and a worse break occurs. And nobody throws new wine in old odres, because then the wineskins are burst, the wine spills and the wineskins are lost;but new wine is thrown into new odres, and both are preserved ".
