Religion in Spain’s education
Today, we live in a multicultural society, we are surrounded by students with different religious beliefs. Therefore, religious tolerance must exist within the classrooms, everyone has to respect and understand that there are other beliefs. To tolerance and consideration it is necessary that the students and teachers of the institutions know the religious diversity that surrounds us.
Therefore, if teachers do not know the religions in which their students believe, they cannot teach them correctly. In fact, it enters the programming that a teacher knows the different religions and transmits them from respecting students since it is a reality that will have to live.
In the educational stage of primary school students consider the teacher as their guide, if this does not respect other religious cultures that are different from theirs, the child will take intolerance as an example. From my point of view, the good teacher is not the one who teaches their religion to the students and transmits it, it goes far beyond that, but it is about teaching values common to all religions, showing students the broadfan of beliefs in our society, because only then can they understand their classmates. Children are going to live together and interact together with the classroom, so it is very important that they know the ideology of each one, so that conflicts are not created by religious issues. If from schools they are shown the importance of all religions, they will develop much better at a social level, since they can understand the reasons or festivities of their classmates without judging them. This will impact not only on this educational stage, but for when they grow and be adults, who do not have prejudices towards any co -worker or neighbor.
On the other hand, currently because of immigration, Spain presents classrooms in very culturally varied educational centers. Above all, from Islam practicing students. Within a few years the Islamic religion will be one of the most important and practiced in our society, so it is important to show students as Muslims live their religious belief and the importance it is in our society.
Finally, the most important thing that a student should know at the end of his educational stage, is that there are many religions and believers. Regardless of the religion in which you believe, we must know how to respect that of all cultures. I think that people enriches people a lot, since sometimes, one speaks without really knowing the belief of the other. If we all live in a society in which we respect ourselves more, we could live better.
