Religion in ancient Greece

Religion in ancient Greek culture was characterized in being polytheistic and anthropomorphic that refers to that they believed in several gods that could be represented in human form when they wanted it.

The Greeks thought that their gods lived like them the only difference is that they did not suffer from diseases, veins, or death since they were omnipotent and immortal beings. The gods in which the Greeks believed were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena, Hermes, among others.

It was believed that these gods lived in the heavens at the top of Mount Olympus in Palacios. Religion occupied a very important place in the life of the Greeks since when they wanted to make important decisions, the God had to do with that subjects, for example, if they wanted to have a good fishing or being protected as they sailed in the seasprayed to the god of posidon sea and these gods would answer their prayers through the oracle.

Religion in current culture still has great importance in our lives. After several times we continue to use the pretext the different religions to create hatred, problems and killings between each other due to belief differences and believe that one religion is superior to the other.

Religion was basically created as a way to coexist with each other and help us as a society. The problem focuses on our sense of superiority which leads to us to become selfish and see other religions as lower seeing them as a threat to our survival. The greatest example we can use is the war that takes between the United States with extremist groups such as ISIS.

In conclusion the aspect of the religion in which they believed before and in which he believes now have several similarities and differences. As for example before, the Greeks believed in multiple gods and in the current one there are several religions with different representations to a God but identify with only one. One similarity is that there have always been wars between religions by superiority, before it could be represented by a God that was better than the other or stronger, it is currently represented as a religion better than the other.

In my opinion I think that it is a very delicate issue of touching and that it will always be a issue of controversy, until we learn to accept each other by whom we are or as we are without judging from being superior to others will continue conflicts about religion.
