Introduction

We are currently in an era where technological advances and globalization govern todayThis knowledge that reads us in books, stories and fabulas. The intention is not to force young people to read, but they don’t want them to stop reading books

Today teenagers do not show any interest in physical or digit books, although technologies give us great accessibility to digital books many of young people do not even know that they exist or know how to access these.

What is sought in young people to encourage them to read more, and not to settle for just reading on social media and instant messaging applications.

"He who reads a lot and walks a lot, sees a lot and knows a lot". Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Spanish writer.

Development/body

Reading is the habit of communication, expression and in turn allows intellectual development and feedback of own and new knowledge.

There are currently technological tools to contribute to learning to young people. However, most young people misuse these technological tools, for example: in excessive use of inappropriate and addictive video games.

Among the problems presented by non -reading we have the lack of compression and personal criteria of a temar, another problem that will present is the lack of spelling knowledge and the poor quality of communication towards people

Teachers strategically use reading as well as writing in students learning to improve the quality of this. To obtain a good reading capacity, appropriate reading standards and additional vocalization are required and thus obtain a reflection.

In children it is very complicated, since they are in the learning process and if reading is not worked, you could have consequences.

“For adults Reading is a task that is very simple but the reading learning process can be a problem for the little ones in the house

Some reading problems that can be seen in the kids are:

  • Dyslexia
  • Dysortography
  • Reader delay ”(Diaz, 2008)

Reading is the process of understanding some type of information or ideas stored in a support and transmitted through some type of code, usually a language, which can be visual or tactile (for example, the Braille system). Other types of reading may not be based on language such as notation or pictograms. You can also give the meaning as one of the human skills to decipher letters or any other language that is invented by the human being (Wikipedia, 2020).

Gómez Palacio (1992) Reading focuses on "knowing how to read, get a written text read properly by a person, meant knowing how to decipher"

Why is reading in young people important?

(Quote) Today, most young people instead of taking a book and start reading, want to play videoconsola or mobile phone, which blocks learning and thoughts. On the other hand, the minority of adolescents who read their learning, their general vocabulary and spelling faults. Reading enhances imagination and allows the development of cognitive and interactive thinking of any reader. It is important that young people read at least one book a month, because it allows them to stimulate their imagination and brain function. The importance of reading in children is very large. Above all, you have to give them interesting youth books to read a lot.

Young people have to be attracted to a book to take their time to read, since reading is an activity that calms stress and anxiety, and today, many young people suffer or stress or anxiety.

Reading can help them in their school performance, since it improves vocabulary and minimizes spelling faults. It also helps them read correctly aloud, to the analysis of texts in general and understanding when someone explains any subject, subject, etc. Reading helps school performance in general, since, as I said before, it helps to understanding and that makes it easier for knowledge to memorize and understand it.

You have to try that young people love reading, but we must not show it as something mandatory, but it must be introduced as leisure activity. You have to teach young people the importance of reading in young people.

It is also good to teach how to make a good summary and how to make summaries so that they know how to synthesize in the future and analyze the information (main ideas, secondary ideas …) (Readers, 2020).

*Importance of monitoring the reading process, for a profitable reading.

Everything has its adaptation process, reading is no exception. It is very important to follow them, otherwise we will not get the most out of reading and we will not enjoy it.

Reading steps

(cites) The reading process proposed by the reform has absolute validity and coherence and the mediating action of the teacher in its development is basic, and cannot be deduced to mere control and final evaluation.

During the reading process, the reader is actively related to the text, in a dialogue in which several thought and expression skills are activated. The teacher’s action is decisive in each of the stages:

In the pre -reading (before reading, activating the previous knowledge of the students, updating their information, allowing them to define their objectives; during the reading phase, indicating the strategies that favor understanding; and, in post -reading (at the end of the process), As support to deepen understanding.

  • The curricular reform proposes the following steps within the reading process:

Pre -reading

It is the stage that allows you to generate interest in the text you are going to read. It is time to review previous and prerequisites knowledge; The previous ones are acquired within the environment that students bring, the prerequisites gives us formal education such as: vocabulary, notions of their reality and use of language. In addition, it is an opportunity to motivate and generate curiosity.

Specific pre -reading skills are developed through activities such as:

  • Denotative and connotative reading of the images that accompany the text. The denotative invites you to observe and describe the graphics such as and the connotative, to interpret them creatively.
  • Activation of previous knowledge: ask what you know about the subject and what it relates it.
  • The formulation of predictions about the content, based on provocative elements: title, year of publication, author, graphics, keywords, prologue, bibliography, etc.
  • Determination of the purposes pursued by reading: recreation, practical application, information location, critical evaluation.

Reading

Corresponds to the act of reading itself, both in mechanical and understanding aspects. The level of understanding that is reached will depend largely on the importance given to the skills of this stage. This is the time to emphasize the global visualized words, phrases and prayers avoiding syllabic reading problems, as well as those of reading aloud.

The activities agree with the type of reading

Post -reading

It is the stage in which activities are proposed that allow to know how much the reader understood. The type of questions that are raised determines the level of understanding that you want to ensure. (Unknown, 2020).

How long do Ecuadorians read?

Ecuador has collected research and census data throughout the country and throws us the following data.

  • 27% of Ecuadorians do not have the habit of reading
  • 50.3% of Ecuadorians read between 1 to 2 hours per week
  • 13.5 % do so from 3 to 4 hours

Although these data are not specifically adolescents, we can realize in a graphic way how many hours a week we read Ecuadorians.

Conclusions

Reading is important, not only for young people but also for adults, older adults (in these stimulates memory and many other senses that are lost with age) and children. In schools and schools you must encourage reading books, fabulas and encyclopedias whether in physical or digital, very apart from regulatory academic books.

It seeks to infuse in young people to enter the wonderful world of fantasy and the magic that we find in books, expand its ability to imagine a book that makes sense and contains an interesting story.

Education in Ecuador is not the most effective or best in the region, but it is about handling in the best way and improving it. Studies indicate that reading skill in Ecuadorians is very poor and key strategies are needed to motivate students and activate their interest in books-
