The hip-hop

Hip-Hop philosophy

Hip hop is a cultural, urban and artistic movement that emerged at the end of the S.XX in the United States, which was expanding all over the world.

The hip hop served to save many lives, because many young people were able to depart from the violence that was lived in the Guettos in the US but also in Spain, because during the 80s the hip hop was an help to separate the young people from drugs, since during that time there was great drug use, especially heroin, which ended the life of many young people.

The origin of hip-hop and the most relevant figures

The antecedent of hip hop was African popular music and, it is worth highlighting a group called Los Griots located in West Africa. These are a group of folding singers and poets who are dedicated to singing traditional songs, which are transmitted from one generation to another generation. It is important to emphasize that their style is very similar to what the rappers do today.

Today these groups can be found in Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, among others. It is important to know that hip-hop was not born in black discos in the areas of Brooklyn and Queens, but the music that was heard was something similar to hip-hop.

During the 70s the so-called Block Parties began to be made famous, a type of street parties, which gave rise to what is hip-hop today. In the Block Parties there were four fundamental parts, which today have become the essential pillars of hip-hop: 1) the DJ, which is the person who is responsible for the musical base;2) The dancers, known as the B-Boys/ B-Girls. They performed a very dynamic type of dance, which liked society; 3) graffiti, a type of artistic and pictorial representation;4) The master of ceremonies (MC), who takes care of the most vocal part.

To all this, we must highlight one of the Hip-Hop figures, Clive Campbell, known rather with his artistic name DJ Kool Herc, who was the founding father of this artistic and cultural style. This during the end of the S. XX noticed how youth liked that kind of music that was repeated several times but with different rhythms known as Breakbeat name.

Also an important figure in the history of hip-hop was Afrika Bambaataa, which during its beginnings became an example for those young people who lived in the Bronx area, since he himself realized that he could take these young people fromthe violence that was constantly given in the streets.

This became a fundamental character in the Hip-Hop history, as it took the role of a peacemaker between black groups that constantly had disputes between them. Therefore, he decided to create a new group known as "Bronx River Organization", which was an option to set aside the violent band of the moment.

Hip-hop fields

Hip-hop has four essential areas that have given rise to this movement having even more meaning and has been thanks to graffiti, the jockey disk (DJ), the Breakdance and finally, rap.

Regarding the definition of what graffiti is, we can say that it is an artistic manifestation in which they are usually written or drawn and generally they are usually given in public places. In these graffiti, certain popularly known ideologies or social situations are usually manifested by which they are happening in reality.

It is also worth highlighting the Jockey Disk (DJ) is in charge of composing and reproducing the beats, which are a type of musical combination of a repetitive character accompanied by a sequence of several instruments.

And as for the concept of Breakdance, it is a type of street dance that emerged in the late 1970.

About Breakdance we can affirm that it is a type of international urban dance and, it is possible to emphasize that this dance is available to all people without any prejudice in terms of their race, age or gender.

And finally, rap can define it with this Kingmex phrase:

"Rap is respect first of all, because rap is a social struggle and any social struggle that lacks respect is intended for failure … I prefer to believe that with rap I can create a good world and change and help people through my songsof rap, to believe that it was created to shout stupidity and a half ".

THE RAP

How rap arises?

The origin of rap cannot be specified in a certain way for being a result of the new dance genre called "Break Dance" and the growth of Hip Hop culture that is booming in the 60s 60s.

Yes there seems to be evidence and that is that rap mostly arises in New York at the end of the 60s principle of the 70s.

Some authors and historians emphasize the disagreement of the society that was at that time and that desire to express their disgust in the form of a song. Many historians point out that this is the essence of rap: people are disgusted with the society that was at the time and its maximum expression is rap, which intermingled with the Hip Hop culture creates a whole new current and different from whathad been seen so far.

This new trend did not like much of the society that repudiated this culture and tried to remove it from society. At present it has been seen that this attempt was not achieved.

As we have mentioned before, rap has a lot of influence of hip hop, in fact the sound and melodies of the first rap songs are the same or derived from the Hip Hop culture. Although hip hop had influence, hip hop was born from black religious music (gospel style and derivatives) and funky disc. The difference is that rap arises more than the Breakdance current (also part of hip hop) but with own dyes that had not been seen so far.

The first rap songs were made up of one or more singers with slow rhymes and with little lyrical structure (in many cases 4 × 4) accompanied by a background that made up the disc jockey (it was composed of cuts and mixtures, mergers of several songs andusing the scratching technique).

The term scratching comes from scratch that means tear or scratch. This technique consisted of altering the natural movement of a vinyl disk to alter its sound as you like.

Here is a clear example of what is the scratch or scratching https: // www.Youtube.com/watch?V = 7SCF-Tze09G.

In the 70s the rap reaches an independence from the other musical styles (hip-hop and breakdance) with distinctive elements that had nothing to do with funk or hip hop. There were already recognized DJ’s such as "herc" and rappers such as "The Hercracoids". From the little trade they had and the little influence they had on advertisements and television media, they began to make celebrities among the public, especially with "mouth to mouth". With the footprint left by these first MC’s (MC means Master of ceremonies, that is, master of ceremonies.MC is considered to all the people who were engaged in composing letters of rap) began to arrive in the musical panorama other rappers with recognizable styles as their own, but always retaining that essence of rap: nonconformism, claiming “without half inks”. So much so, that the rappers at that time were criticized for their letters that, in some cases, used obscene words or to criticize society too much for the taste of the population.

It went from having a more monotonous rhythm and some themes with a slower pace to vary in these two aspects: unpredictable and shocking rhythms and a little faster rhythms, altering with slow rhythms to give it more dynamism.

These issues of sexual content or related to the destiny of the human being or the reason for being, began to be very attractive in society in the mid -70s, whose letters caused intrigue and deep thoughts such as death, the origin of the origin of theman, among others.

This type of rap began to have influences from another African -American rap style. The rap emerged in New York and disseminated throughout America (even arriving in the 80s the European contineto the rival and to ridicule it to its maximum expression. These rhymes insulting had to be made improvised, rewarding mental agility and answering the rhymes that the rival had conjugated in the previous shift, in order to achieve a greater veracity that the rhymes were improvised, there arises the freestyle trend from whichWe will talk below.

This game aimed to demonstrate an emotional strength. I lost the person who was previously taken from his boxes "

What is the rap?

Rap is a music style that consists in singing looking for the rhyme of words trying to convey a message, usually about their own lives, about the situations that occur in a society, about circumstances with which they are identified, etc.

One of the peculiarities of this musical style is that the origin of the melodies is mainly the voice of the rappers.
