Plausible theories about the Bermuda Triangle
There have been many strange theories about why there have been so many disappearances in the Bermuda triangle. One is that extraterrestrial abductions are to blame. Charles Berlitz wrote about ‘suggestions of interdimensional changes through a passage equivalent to a“ hole in the sky ”(where airplanes can enter but not leave), while others believe that the disappearances are designed by entities of the interior or exterior space. ‘
Others think that the Bermuda triangle area is the home of the lost city of Atlantis and remains of its advanced technologies. The psychic Edgar Cayce said that Bimini was one of the peaks of the mountains of the ancient Atlantis and that the Atlantis had some special crystals that radiated so much energy that they could make the navigation equipment in ships and airplanes not work correctly.
Explanations about disappearances
It is not necessary to go with supernatural reasons to explain the incidents in the Bermuda triangle. The area is one of the most traveled by amateur pilots and sailors, and more traffic leads to more accidents and disappearances. Below I present the possible causes of these accidents.
Meteorological patterns
The Bermuda triangle is an area where the weather can be treacherous. Most tropical storms and Atlantic hurricanes pass through the area, and the Gulf current can cause rapid, sometimes violent climatic changes. In the days prior to the development of modern weather prediction, it is not difficult to imagine the ships surprised with the Guard. Nor are marine thrombus infrequent that could easily destroy a plane or ship that passes. A marine thrombus is simply a tornado in the sea that extracts water from the ocean surface. Some are accompanied by winds of 125 miles (200 kilometers) per hour.
The Gulf current, which travels along the western edge of the triangle, is extremely fast and turbulent. You can raise extreme navigation challenges, especially for sailors without experience. Topography and seismic effects
The numerous Caribbean islands create many areas of shallow water, which can be dangerous for ships. But at the same time, some of the deepest trenches in the world are located in the area of the Bermuda triangle, including the Puerto Rico pit, which descends to 27.500 feet (8.229 meters) under sea level. Probably will never find ships or airplanes that sink into these deep trenches.
Other possible environmental effects include submarine earthquakes, since scientists have found a lot of seismic activity in the area. In 1817, an earthquake of 7.4 at the north end of the triangle caused a tsunami that violently threw ships as north as the Delaware river south of Philadelphia.
Methane gas
In 2016, researchers from the Arctic University of Norway caused a sensation when they announced the discovery of giant craters of up to half a mile (0.8 kilometers) wide in the Barents sea off the coast of Norway, who believed they were causedby the natural gas explosion that had migrated from deep oil deposits and had accumulated in shallow rocks. Some newspapers took the idea that such explosions could explain the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda triangle. But in a press release, one of the researchers, Professor Karin Andreassen, made it clear that scientists were not establishing any link with the triangle. National Geographic News described the notion that methane explosions could be the explanation of disappearances in the triangle as a marginal theory.
Human error
As we have already seen, many of the disappearances of the Bermuda triangle can be attributed to a good human error: people who interpret the compasses badly, make bad navigation decisions, misunderstand their location and things like that. It is worth noting that as the navigation equipment has improved, there have been much fewer cases of mysterious disappearances in the Atlantic waters.
