Philosophy within migration

John Locke says that all men are created the same and that they are born without skills;Hobbes says that all men are born cruel and motivated by their own interest. John Locke also mentions that every individual has the right to live, be free and pursue happiness so, based on Locke’s ideas, Donald Trump’s actions are incorrect and example of violation of human rights, this philosopher leaves himThe responsibility of respecting these freedoms to the government. On the other side, if we rely on Hobbes ideas, Donald Trump is fulfilling his duty. Since Hobbes says that to achieve peace, these rights have to be renounced to a "monarch".

Speaking specifically of the philosophy that relates to the subject, Professor Nida-Rümelin says that the most important thing to analyze when talking about ethics in migration is universalism. He says that he personally relates more to universalism, believing that what unites us are human rights, not political borders. In addition, Cynic Diogenes (inspired by Socrates) said he was a "citizen of the world not sinope". According to this idea of cosmopolitism: the ideology, proposals and actions of Donald Trump have a lack of ethics and are incorrect since they value more political divisions than human rights and values.

It is true that there are approximately 12 million illegal migrants in the United States, they are crime perpetrators, ¼ of the prisoners in California are Mexican and 75% of the lists of the most wanted in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Albuquerque are illegal immigrants butThis does not mean that Donald Trump is correct or justifies the actions that have been taken. It is a fact that 1 in 4 Americans can be considered as part of the migrant population and it can be verified that immigrants have a positive impact on the American economy and society. A NRC report in 1997 establishes that migration expands labor supply, increases economic competition and increases national income.  Studies done by criminologists and institutions have not found evidence that undocumented migration increases the criminal rate. "Cato" found in 2015 that arrest rates for immigrants were lower than for nationals in Texas.

Observing studies, reality, predictions, particular cases and philosophical ideologies on human rights and ethics we can see that migration in the United States is being used to explain problems of which it is not the cause. Donald Trump acts with a lack of ethics towards a fraction of the American population, separates families and even acts against the foundation of their country itself. John Locke’s ideas of "all men are created the same" and that they have the right to pursue happiness were the foundation of the United States declaration of independence. Discriminate and try to prevent people from looking for better opportunities, is a direct violation of the country’s essence and the ideologies on which it was founded.
