Ours that you are on Earth

In "ours that you are on earth", from Istarú, the idea of female identity is reflected, through four generations of women belonging to the same family. The work is made up of the following characters: daughter, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother;who have suffered for the model that patriarchy forces them to follow, because by simulating being the "right woman" they end their dreams and freedom.

Women (grandmother, mother and daughter) coexist in the same physical space; However, Amelia and Dora have a traditional vision, while, great -grandmother and daughter have a liberal thought about women, therefore, it is possible to affirm that their characterization is contrasting. In the first place, it is shown that for Amelia marriage meant the loss of his freedom, leaving his interest in between and fulfilling the work of a good wife, which is evidenced in the suppressed desire to go to the cinema, such a situation made her resort toto prayer and resignation to be submissive and ideal for her husband.

Second, the figure of machismo through Dora is emphasized, which constantly censures his daughter, referring to the fact that he must behave as a "decent lady", so that her daughter gets husband. She also complains about the economic problems in which the family is located; However, she does not seek a way of working because she considers it wrong for women. Unlike her, Amalia and Julia did work, one as a seamstress and the other of secretary in an office, which is part of machismo since they are stereotyped professions in society when they are considered for "women". For this character, marriage solves many situations that women live, such as economic problems, in this way, ideas under which she was raised, where women depend on man in different areas of her life.

Third, Julia, a suffering woman is found because she did not follow the model desired by her mother, which destroyed all her dreams, aspirations, self – esteem, etc., example of this, occurs in the repetitive accusations about the moral of his daughter. Despite the sentences received, Julia maintains fleeting relationships with her co -workers, which for Dora is incorrect, because she considers that women must reach the marriage, because a "used woman" does not interest any man. Here it is observed that the suffix –illa has an improper connotation, because the mother tells her "mujercilla" when he refers to her as an immoral.

In relation to the above, the work expresses an oppressive-appressed relationship between these characters, Julia experiences the repercussions of the abusive discourse of her oppressor, for whom it is necessary for her victim to be mentally and emotionally weak.

In addition to this, Eva, who lived in an authoritarian regime where she could not study for the simple fact of being a woman, differs from the rest of the women because she managed to travel and go to the cinema, which was a dream that the others could not make. Also, great -grandmother shows as a rebel entity for the social order, because it is not "well seen" that a woman smokes, wearing fashionable clothes and much less than mocking the patriarchy (in this case, the Church).

On the other hand, women constantly evoke the menDespite this, in the text a patriarchal and macho discourse stands out. In this case, the male is a being that can be released from the bonds of the confinement (house), while the woman is limited to the space of the home, this is exemplified when Amelia mentions that only women are truly from parents.

The temporal structure is given from three acts, which take place in the Christmas season. The first two are held on Christmas Eve, while the third happens in the early hours of December 25;It should be emphasized that there is a difference of 5 years from one act to the other. The temporal structure of the last act changes, in this case, the darkness (night) is left behind and develops in dawn, therefore, time is related to the idea of the new birth, both for the Christmas celebration and for theJulia’s character, who was oppressed by patriarchy, but decides to act according to his wishes.

The space where the work develops is in a house, which is characterized by having a traditional and fashionable structure, so it can be related to the archaic thinking of Dora and Amelia. On the other hand, it is a site of oppression, since the person who between that door must silence all that against machismo. In addition, it is mentioned that it is outside the house where Julia manages to have fleeting relationships because the panoptic (mother) is not.

Julia’s character is in the process of formation, she is confused due to the traumatic system of oppression she has received from her mother, therefore, Eva plays an important role in Julia’s life: she is the only one that gives her understanding,Which can be justified because, despite being great -grandmother, it has an approximate age to that of Julia, so it entails that both have similar perceptions. In addition, it presents a double through the mirror of the house, in the process of self-knowledge, precisely when she mentions that inside her she is living waiting for her, Eva is reflected and the same movements are made so that they are released.

Finally, within the stage, the great -grandmother is configured as one more spectator, because at the beginning of the work it is only responsible for observing (spectator, "passive" role) the events of the three women; However, she decides to appear later as a character ("active" role), despite not being able to be seen by the others.
