Origin and knowledge of the Aztec civilization

Aztec civilization is worldwide, their beliefs and way of living made them famous. Many have heard of this culture but few know their history and where the origin of their beliefs comes from.

Civilization dates back to the times of escapes, several communities emigrated to the Valley of Mexico. With these great migrations the mixture of cultures and customs was inevitable. It is said that the Aztecs were the last to reach the valley where cultures were alreadyThis civilization. The relationship of cultures with the Aztecs was not good, because they left the valley for conflicts with others. Its leader, Tenoch, leaves del Valle in search of a promised city.

In 1.325, when they reached what is now Mexico City, built a temple on behalf of their god Huitzilopochtli. This God was the main deity of the Aztecs, it was associated with the sun and it was which gave instructions to the Aztecs. This gave the birth to the new city best known as Tenochtitlán.Once already organized in the new region, the Aztecs were divided into two by internal conflicts. A community was located in a new Tenochtitlán headquarters called Tlatelolco. Almost 100 years after the separation the two cultures gathered again. The headquarters of the Aztecs was divided into 4 parts or calpullis. However, this town was subjected to different cultures and only in 1.427 with the fourth king called Izcóatl managed to reach an alliance, which allowed the Aztec culture to progress and create its huge network of channels, dikes and chinampas that reflected the power of this civilization.

The socio -political structure was complicated for the time, where tradition and wealth had an influence on society. The calpulleque was in charge of distributing the land to the heads of the family according to their work and family number, it was also responsible for administering the lands as much as the king and the land of the gods.In addition, the Aztecs had a social class pyramid. The top of the social pyramid was the emperor who had all military, religious and administrative control to put it in some way, then in the pyramid was the military and religious who were advisors of the emperor and had a great social position in the Aztec civilization. Then on the scale were the merchants who had in addition to their role, the trade of being spies and priests. These were known as the Pochtecas. After the Pochtecas, the macehuales came, people from the common without any power but free.

Finally, there were the Mayeques, landless servants who had to respond with work to the upper classes and the tamenes or slaves that could buy their freedom if they demonstrated abuse or if they got sick. The religious organization of the Aztecs was very important. Very similar to other cultures, they had several gods that represented different things, they worshiped them through rites and offerings. After the gods was a kind of shaman who communicated with the gods. A characteristic of the Aztecs is their devotion to the gods and their fidelity to the same. Some of the gods that the Aztecs worshiped them were: Tezcatlipococa or God of the gods, Huitzilopochtli who was associated with war, Quetzalcoatl the god of rain and wind, chalchiuhtlicue, goddess of living water and cinteotl the god of corn. The language of the Aztecs was the Nahuatl.

To maintain their economy, the Aztecs were very good merchants, they worked on two types of markets, one local and one internationally. It is said that these markets could have 60.000 merchants, people and pochtecas in one day. The Pochtecas were in charge of handling the markets and the domain that moved around this. The conception of the death of the Aztecs was a bit rare compared to different cultures. For the Aztecs, when they died, the souls of the dead did not go to the underworld or sky, these have different destinations according to their way of dying and the life they had on earth. These places could be the world of the dead, the house of the sun, the Tláloc or the nodriza tree among other places .

In conclusion, the Aztecs were a very successful civilization for their way of organizing, of trade and their religious culture was very important for them, as much as to make sacrifices.
