Organized crime organization and strategies
Introduction
The following case study seeks to explore the evolution of transnational organized crime in Colombia, with an approach to the El Pacifica region, exploring its intrinsic relationship and interdependence with drug trafficking, illegal armed groups and especially with the growing influence of fundamentalismIslamic, transnational phenomenon that has been taken relevance in Latin American countries and is a reason for study by Colombian military intelligence, regarding its possible repercussions on national security and defense. As a fact of interest, it worries that by 2006, in Colombia the presence of Al-Qaeda cells in Maicao is discovered.
Developing
Various insecurity phenomena present in the Pacific region have immersed it in chaos and poverty, one of them is transnational organized crime (COT), which according to the United Nations Convention against transnational organized crime. It is defined as criminal activities for profit and international implications;In the same way, the influence of Islamic fundamentalism will be addressed, an expression that is used in the West to describe different religious political or political currents linked to Islam (Amstrong, 2014), of course the link that unites these factors of insecurity in the Colombian Pacific isDrug trafficking (drug trafficking).
The drug trafficking established as a world illegal trade, including cultivation, manufacturing, distribution and sale of substances that are subject to laws that prohibit drugs, of which it is important to say that sadly Colombia continues to the head as themain producer of cocaine hydrochloride in the world. Due to the vicissitudes and development of the armed conflict, socioeconomic reality and the geostrategic position of the Pacific region, it has suffered intense conflicts by armed groups whose sole purpose has been to control smuggling and drug trafficking routes,
These factors create an attractive environment for organized crime groups by adding transnationals, which want to enter the region, so it is possible to ask in the Colombian Pacific region there are links of armed groups organized with transnational organized crime groups with Islamic influence?, Considering that this region, since it is coastal, is configured as a permeable border of the country in which different insecurity generating agents converge that show off activities related to drug trafficking. Situations such as globalization and frontal fight against organized crime.
Drug trafficking is maintained as a financier of transnational organized crime in Colombia, has allowed the emergence of relations between COT and fundamentalist religious organizations such as the terrorist group Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah that, taking advantage of the dynamics and capabilities of the former, has been inserted into theRegion in search of financial resources, alliances strategies for expansion purposes and the use of corridors or illegal routes through which to displace radical members towards Central and North America. These statements have solid bases, which start with the discovery of the first antecedent in Colombia in 2006,
conclusion
In consideration of the above, through the present case study, an exploration based on the inductive and analytical methodology is proposed, then pretending to link the different approaches made on transnational organized crime at the regional level, in order to expose the complexity to the readerachieved by this phenomenon in the country, pointing out to point its origins, evolution and current dynamics. To achieve the objective, there is own information (naval intelligence sources) and information collected from secondary sources (indexed magazines, academic articles. Finally, it is established through a process of reflection, considerations that lead to the exhibition of conclusions and recommendations.
