Introduction

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common way of dementia, more than 5 million people in the United States live with this devastating disease, and is the sixth cause of death worldwide, killing more people than prostate cancer andcombined breast cancer. The exact cause of Alzheimer’s disease is unknown, but there are four key features: beta-amyloid (Aß), neurofibrillar, neuroinflammation and loss of neuronal mass and synaptic connections and synaptic connections.

Developing

Beta-amyloid plates are groups of protein fragments that accumulate and attack brain cells, which causes cell death. Neurofibrillar shells are twisted tau protein fibers that accumulate within Alzheimer’s neurons, damaging neural structures and inhibiting nutrient transport. 

Neuroinflamation is caused by the activation of microglia that mediates the immune response. Microglia is activated by causing cytokines that increase neuroinflammation. All these factors result.

Advances in regenerative medicine have been evident in recent years and this has been obtained by the new knowledge achieved in relation to stem cells, whose use in replacement therapy has given rise to a new era in medicine. Mesenchimal human stem cells obtained from umbilical cord (HUC-MCSC) can promote the release of acetylcholine, promote neurogenesis and synaptic formation, in addition to reducing oxidative stress and cell death.

 Research shows that HUC-MSC are a better alternative than alogenic stem cells due to hypoimmunogenicity, upper tropism, high potential for differentiation and paracrine activity.  The evidence suggests that HUC-MSC can differentiate in a variety of neur-regulatory molecules and can raise several factors, including the neurotrophic factor derived from the brain (BDNF), the neurotrophic factor derived from glial cells (GDNF), the factor ofGrowth similar to insulin 1 (IGF-1), peptide similar to type 1 glucagon (LPG-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

It is believed that neuronal stem cells transplanted in nerve injury sites promote functional recovery by producing trophic factors that induce survival and regeneration of host neurons. Mesenquimal stem cells administered intravenously are also able to cross the blood brain barrier and effectively migrate to regions of neural injury, without inducing tumor growth or an immune response.

Research has shown that mesenchymal stem cells have the potential to improve the symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s disease through multiple ways: decreasing the formation of beta-amyloid plates, stimulating neurogenesis, synaptogenesis and neuronal differentiation, improvingmemory deficits and decreasing inflammation by increasing neuroprotective cytokines and decreasing proinflammatory cytokines.

Treatment protocol

The use of mesenchymal human stem cells obtained from umbilical cord (HUC-MCSC) for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease is recommended. To obtain optimal results, we recommend a two -day treatment. Every day the patient the following:

  1. 1CC with 30 million mesenchymal human stem cells derived from the blood of the umbilical cord
  2. Antioxidant therapy with vitamin C and glutathione.
  3. Ozonotherapy
  4. Platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP)

The stem cells are administered by intravenous and intra -intraceal (spinal) injection (spinal). Stem cells are used exclusively that are derived from umbilical cord donations. Umbilical cord stem cells are collected with the informed consent of the parents and only after the baby’s childbirth. The collection follows strict ethical protocols that guarantee that stem cells come from safe and reliable sources. In addition a non -invasive, simple and painless procedure is used. Once cells are collected, the blood of the umbilical cord is analyzed to detect the presence of diseases.

Advantages of stem cells

  • • Abundant supply. Umbilical cord contains up to 10 times more stem cells than bone marrow or adipose tissue.
  • • Compatibility. HUC-MSC have immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory properties that allow them to be used in any individual without risk of rejection. They do not need to be compatible with the human leukocyte antigen (HLA)
  • • They have greater proliferation capacity than adult autologous stem cells.
  • • They have a rapid regeneration speed
  • • They are young and very adaptable.
  • • They have not been impacted by the aging process.
  • • They have not been affected by environmental toxins.
  • • They can be administered multiple times during the days
  • • Its use eliminates the need to collect stem cells from the patient’s fatty tissue or bone marrow, which reduces pain and recovery time

conclusion

Alzheimer’s disease destroys many different types of neurons in the brain. The successful treatment requires that stem cells travel and differentiate in different types of neurons and other brain cells correctly. At this time, stem cell therapy does not stop the underlying cause of Alzheimer’s disease and the patient may need more than one treatment over time.
