Descartes talks about himself, but not as another person would, presenting biographical facts and data. Seeks to expose and justify your own reasons. According to him, he achieved good results in the search for truth. Yes, Descartes says that common sense or reason is the best distributed in the world. This is a popular phrase. But it also says that it is not enough to have a healthy mind, that is, to be endowed with reason: you have to apply it well. And he says it with a laugh. Show such quality is the minimum to be a man and not an animal. Recognize in itself the same reason in anyone. But this device, without knowing how to use it, does not lead to knowledge superior to the average. Descartes announces the development of a method that allows you to gradually increase your knowledge, to rise even from its particular training factors. To the readers you expect to have, they tell them that they should not follow their method. What he offers is the fable of a man who decided to adopt some procedure to guide his own reason. Expects to be useful. After years of study, Descartes did not see his promise that he would have a clear and safe knowledge of what is useful for life. Yes, he discovered ignorance in herself and felt it as a shame, an abundant pregnancy. Languages, fables, the knowledge of the great men of history and customs, good writers, eloquence, poetry, mathematics, theology and philosophy reported profits, but perhaps profits too limited. Reading old books and contacts with foreign land inhabitants are trips that are made to other times and spaces. They show that not only habits themselves are correct. But the disadvantage of listening to these others is to believe that the things of life must always be extravagant, since it is they who listen to the stories. As such, they make the individual ignore what is done in the present. Descartes sought to be contemporary, look at the ground on which he stepped on. The different knowledge seemed to want to get it out of there: poetry seemed to be a gift from the mind and not study, as if there were another place where the skills came;Mathematics, although appreciated for their precision, did not reveal their true utility;The writings of the ancient pagans, who raised the virtues, were beautiful castles, but did not announce those virtues that weakened the buildings;Theology is equally generous with ignorant and learned, and learning it is something for someone who is more than a man;The dispute about philosophy discredited that one of them was true, while the others were mere opinions. Each of these criticism shows an attitude of approach to the man who lives somewhere and who needs reasons for his life. After studying and traveling, Descartes said he found in himself, in his reasoning, the truths on the issues that interested him. The importance of having known the diversity of customs and opinions was that after having released them, to be able to listen to their reason again, our natural lucidity did not eclipsed it.
