Mental collapse: What is and how to prevent it

A mental collapse occurs after a long period of suffering from psychic disorders. During this time, the person cannot carry the daily rhythm that he usually had. Some of the diseases that can trigger a collapse are: depression, anxiety and acute stress disorder. Although this term is used today to refer to intense symptoms of stress, which leads to not being able to face the challenges of life. Another acceptable diagnosis is that a mental collapse can be hiding a disease, not diagnosed so far.

What can be the symptoms of a mental collapse?

As we said before, there is no precise definition of what mental collapse means, but in general there are coincidences, which is a state between physical and emotional stress that becomes uncontrollable, which affects the normal development of our psychic capacity.

You can feel some physical, psychological and behavior signs when a mental collapse is being lived. The symptoms are not always the same in each person. The cause of origin of the collapse can affect the symptoms that present.

Because the term mental collapse or nerve attack no longer applies in medicine, it can enclose a series of symptoms, such as the following:

Depression, as a loss of hope and suicide or self-harm thoughts. Anxiety, presenting high blood pressure, tense muscles, wet hands, dizziness, stomach discomfort and tremors. Insomnia, difficulty sleeping. Hallucinations. Sudden changes of humor. Panic attack, presenting chest pain, detachment from reality and oneself, extreme fear and difficulty breathing. Paranoia, how to feel that someone is following you, controlling and looking. It can appear after a post -traumatic stress disorder, not diagnosed.

When a person is in a state of nervous breakdown, he can feel the need to get away from his family, friends and co -workers. Some of the causes of retirement can be: avoid attending social events, food badly and sleep little. Lack of hygiene. Do not present your work, despite repeated calls, taking refuge in your home.

Prevention and treatment

There are a variety of options to reduce the emotional and physical effects of stress. Some of the most applied strategies can be:

Receive advice from a professional, specialist in cognitive behavioral therapy. Use of medicines such as antidepressants, anxiolytics and antipsychotics indicated by a psychiatrist doctor.

Try to reduce stress situations, preventing them trying to avoid home conflicts or too many demands in the workplace. Practice deep breathing and meditation exercises, practicing yoga and tai chi.

Perform physical exercises for 150 minutes with moderate to intense intensity, at least 3 times a week. Perform outdoor activities such as walking or some hobby interacting with friends.

Any situation that the body cannot handle, in some people it will manifest through a mental collapse or triggering symptoms of existing mental health.
