Introduction

Malville’s novel focuses on whale hunting. In the nineteenth century the whale in Nantucket was the most prestigious type of work and young people with merchant experience sought to be part of the jetty. Ismael, a young dreamer who was looking for an adventure journey decides that it is his time. Before starting his journey, he meets a man of hard features, but friendly called Quequeg with whom he agrees. 

Developing

By sailing, Captain Ahab confesses that he does not care about the wealth or whale oil they can find when sailing, since he only sought to take revenge on a giant, white and hump whale that had eaten his leg on a previous trip.

  • Environment (place and time when events happen, life duration) Moby Dick is set in the nineteenth century and history begins in the United States. It should be noted that there are jumps in time in the narrative, since when the boat begins, they leave Nantucket and spend most of them in the ocean.
  • Characters (main and secondary characters, its characteristics) Ismael, young expert in merchant marine who wanted to navigate the oceans. He is the youngest of the crew and is always admired by whales and different sea creatures.

 

Queequeg, a man of strong, but friendly and stable features, is the best Nantucket harpon and eventually becomes the best friend of Ismael. Captain Ahab, is the captain of the Pequod ship, is an experienced 40 -year -old man, is obsessed with the Moby Dick whale and seeks to take revenge for having lost his leg. Moby Dick, is a fictitious whale of gray and hump, the main antagonist of the work. Melville based the fictitious whale partially on a real albina whale of that period called Mocha Dick.

Elias, crew of the Pequod ship, is the one who predicts the uncertain and peculiar fate of the ship, believing that they will be attacked. Captain Boomer, second hand of Captain Ahab, who also lost his leg in a crucial encounter with the whale, this is not obsessed with seeking revenge.

  • Narrator (type of narrator) In this classic work of Malville, some confusion has been presented with respect to the type of narrator that entails the work, because some believe that it is narrated from the author’s point of view, although in reality literature is in the first person in the first personand is narrated by Ismael, the protagonist despite not having appearances in most chapters.

 

After taking days sailing and hunting whales that were not compared to Moby Dick, captain Ahab crazy and eager to distribute revenge towards the white whale that had not given indications of presence during the high seas, therefore, and after having heard ElijahHis tragic destination decides to destroy a quadrant built to know the position of the sun to which his ship and crew are involved in a storm that occurs in Japan, the typhoon. By noticing like the woods of his ship, the crew ask to be time to go home, but the captain blinded with revenge, chooses to continue until he finds the white whale. When they arrive in Ecuador, Moby Dick makes their appearance.

conclusion

When noticing the white whale, the crew prepares for the worst, prepare the boats and the captain is about to throw the harpoon when it comes from the depths with the mouth open, wanting to ram the ship with force and achieve it, bywhat destroys in Poquod in two. The whale moves away and the crew try to climb the ship, for the next morning they throw the boats to cause a greater damage to the whale, but the monstrosity of its size only manages to destroy the ship completely. After his last attempt Ahab tries along with the crew, throwing the intact boats along with the ship into the whale and when it seems to give it, they nail a stake and see her immerse.

The fighting fight causes a tragic accident and a heartbreaking persecution, sweeping with everything in its path. Ismael, the only survivor, since being away from the ship and chaos that Moby Dick was doing, the Queequeg’s cofThe sea until Raquel, a large ship, found it.
