Love is Hunger, Ana Clavel novel

Love is hunger is a novel written by Ana Clavel that about a different way to the world of sexuality and food. The novel despite having a theme oriented to eroticism can be seen that the scenes of this type are less, and it is surprising as it leads to that erotic world without the need for too many sexual scenes, and in the few mentioned, without many details.

Ana Clavel rightly divides the novel into three parts, which I would define as: first approach to the sexual world, discovery of her sexual identity, and finally, maturity. Another "curiosity" of the novel, is the way in which Car Clavel cits herself several times, which seems to me a rather good extra for the development of the work. In addition to annexing a link, which can cause in the reader the desire to investigate more about the work, in this case an article by the same writer referring to Little Red Riding Hood

The first part addresses several interesting topics, one of them is the way Artemisa assimilates sex. And in this part it seems correct by Ana Clavel the natural and carefree form with which he introduces sex in the life of Artemis, since it is something natural and vital for the human being, as much as sleep and eat. At the same time this makes it a great point of controversy, because in contrast to the above, some people see sex as something of evil or very difficult to introduce to the life of a girl.

Another point to highlight and that is undoubtedly one of the most important visions that this novel leaves us, is the relationship we give to sex with other aspects of our daily life. In the novel, Artemis relates it to food and mirres with plants, the curious thing in these two characters is that Artemis transmits what lives in bed to his profession as a chef, and on the one hand completely different, Mirna is not very devout Sex, but lives it in a different way, that is, taking care of your greenhouse produces the same sensations that could cause you to have sex with Rodolfo.

The interesting thing about this last part is that each of us feel pleasure for different things and when performing different activities, as well as having sex. This point, if you get to work correctly, as the biological parents of Artemis worked, it is a deadly weapon for any of us, because whatever we do we will do for pleasure. As in this case, in food.

In the second part, the active sex life that begins to live Artemisa and the varied trips of her through Europe is made a notary. Here she stands out as every lover she had of her gave her the grain of sand of her to shape the hunger she wanted to satisfy.

Another positive point that would give Ana Clavel in this part is the way she introduces a young woman with an active sex life and is not judged by society, which should be seen in everyday life outside the novel ; On the other hand, it makes the age difference that Artemis had with her lovers, and on many occasions you could say that she was related to pedophilia. This can be related to the supposed love events that she had during her childhood with her godfather and her tutor, Rodolfo.

A scene that makes a lot of noise in the second part passes during her falling in love with a girl who is very physically similar to her, with which she shares a couple several times and to which death artemisa during a sexual act. This little scene comes to change the perspective of how it cooked so well, because after some pages I came to think that its exotic flavors could be given by an act of cannibalism, which also mentions briefly during the last pages of the novel. (But he denies it completely)

In this second part, Artemisa joins the two great passions of her in a. Contrary to how he was doing it before, where the emotions and hunger that caused him. This could be considered a strange fetish, but at all out of sanity.

During the last chapter Artemisa begins to reach the maximum point of him as a chef, this is achieved in Italy. In this part Ana Clavel develops a point that is very important for most, this is how we leave everything we have for the people we really love. You can see how the protagonist divides her family love into several branches, where it includes in the most important is Rodolfo, through which he leaves everything and a branch down there is even her biological grandmother, which dies and Artemis does not return to see her; Case contrary to what happened with Rodolfo. In this part of the novel it is reflected that the family, however close the biological bond, cannot pass over the spiritual bond, which can be developed with farther relatives or in this case, people who became part of the family.

The novel itself is entertaining and does not have a lot of straw or filling; Although on more than one occasion you start talking about one theme and for several reasons you end up talking about another. Despite this, the story has a linear sense and does not give us practically any flashback, which could lose the reader in the temporal line.

In the end, the message or one of the many messages that we can receive from this work, is the hunger to do things, although Ana Clavel takes it very literally, in life we must all be hungry for what we want or us please do. Or a bit generalized, we must be hungry to get ahead.
