Jean-Jacques Rousseau Brief Bibliography
Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born on June 28, 171 in Geneva and died on July 2, 1778 in Ermenonville. He was a Francophone Swiss polymata. He was both a writer, pedagogue, philosopher, musician, botanist and naturalistic.
His mother was Suzanne Bernard and his father was Isaac Rousseau. He was defined as an illustrator, but he demonstrated the opposite. His ideas reflected Copernican ideas focusing on the natural evolution of the child and direct and practical matters, and his political ideas influenced the French Revolution. At this time he was considered the first writer of pre -Romanticism, they also considered it as one of the precursors of the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. Rousseau left Geneva in 1728 and went to Paris. There He frequented literary groups, but for love reasons he walked away and stopped frequenting them. He was invited to contribute music articles to the Encyclopedia of D ’Alembert and Diderot; Thanks to this he led him to compete at the Dijon Academy, in which he was given first place to his speech about science and arts, this marked his fame.
In that course Rousseau falls in love with an illiterate servant called Thérèse Camsseur with whom he had five children, but he marries her in the year of 1768. He marries after giving him newborns to an orphanage, what he told his then girlfriend was that he was not ready to have children. In one of his published works he explained that he told that to his wife since he did not want his children to have not had a bad education like the one he had, also since his wife’s family was illiterate did not want his Children would have been raised and threatened that kind of behavior by his wife’s family, so their five children were delivered to an orphanage to have a better education. On the part of his professional life he wrote some works which became famous such as the social contract, "man is born free, but everywhere he is chained," the other, present in his Emilio, or education, "man the man It is good by nature ».
With this last phrase "man is good by nature" there are many of his ways of thinking and books which are directed in pedagogism.
Rousseau proposed the following phrase "Man is good by nature", focusing on the birth of a child and in human beings itself. He said that all children are born without knowing anything, without being aimed on the path that a person teaches or leads to him, this part which says that the child is born without knowing anything, could be taken reference to the Bible which he saysthat the child is free of sin and will be the kingdom of heaven. He proposed that people since childhood have been influenced by his environment: social, political. Therefore, he wanted to make a change for which he proposed that the child should have a very different breeding from the one who is accustomed. The father or person around him should not influence his way of thinking or choosing things in the future since in this way the child would think in an autonomous way. A clear example that Rousseau proposed was the following:
The child should be autonomous without any way to be or do another person who was influenced by an adult, the child should learn only since in this way he would have original thoughts and had another perspective of seeing the situations that are around him. For this reason, the teacher should do nothing and that the child follows the "nature of man" and in this way the child would learn things that are right and wrong;As the teacher would do nothing to teach or influence some aspect, what he would do is show him bad things so that the child learned that these things are wrong and they would not have to do.
Another example that can be understood as a way is as follows, when a child is influenced by a capitalist, which grows the child is with just that way of seeing things and would not be given freedom for that child to decideso that when he grows he knows that he had the power of choice, to have in his thoughts that the election he took was because someone taught him or influenced him. Rousseau took this thought at his own experience since at first he did not study completely and therefore he was exploited laborly and their children would have a better education in the orphanage than with their legal family;Not having that influence with which to grow, and that is why this idea began to be elaborated.
In case the structure that education takes sometimes is not adequate, but so far it has served, it cannot be denied that there have been many cases in which this system has not served, but as much as Rousseau or other people who have talked aboutEducation and have taken as a reference to the child, the evolution of this in the course of their student life, what they want is to improve studies;In this way, improve the academic level and to form citizens capable of not having been influenced by other people and who have the ability to form their future in a logical, formal and different way from others;One of the clear examples is the choice of your electoral representative.
According to my point of view Rousseau had a great initiative with which I very inspired pedagogy, but he only thought for the moment when Rousseau was, but not a future, not only I speak of the future of the now or the present ifNot also talk about their future, children are large or young need attention and discipline. Rousseau said that the child had to follow “the nature of man”, but the difference in these cases that our nature can be very bad, contaminated, but we are very easy to influence and if we influence bad things the child will be another one of thecrowd, when I mean the crowd it is, for example, to start stealing or things like that. If we take into account that a child who lives in the street has more index to steal than a child who has been raised better, in that case we are returning to the point at which Rousseau said that a child is influenced by his environment. I do not deny that his thought is wrong, what I say and I think is that it is fine to a point but from there, there must be someone who teaches him good things, if that child when he grows makes a bad decision he had the choice ofChoose if it was right or wrong, since we all have free will.
