Interculturality in classrooms

In a globalized world, where society must learn respect, coexistence among other people, it makes us think of social harmony.

According to the Globalization101 website this term means. “A process of interaction and integration between the people, companies and governments of different nations.”To meet this process it is necessary to learn to live with the diverse cultures of the different countries and those of our own Ecuador. This essay will analyze why education in Ecuador is related to globalization if this issue does not have a great impact on small countries.

In educational institutions a teacher gets many experiences with his students with multicolored garments that teach their classmates some more knowledge. Since they show how to know their traditions, their culture their dances and even their gastronomy. And thus giving pride to Ecuadorian individuals of their fourteen nationalities and their twenty -one indigenous peoples. This drives children to respect and care for the rights of their country and to promote the sumak kawsay within it.

In article 171 of the 2008 Constitution of Ecuador, “the Organic Law of Higher Education” is present, which promotes ancestral languages, custom and wisdom of our peoples and nationalities. But how does this article promote interculturality in classrooms? The answer to this question is interesting because this action has led to Ecuador to participate in a development process. This law promotes its progress through the bilingual intercultural education system at all levels.

In addition, the National University of Ecuador participates supporting this law, training teachers with an open mentality and an intercultural and comprehensive vision, and thus promoting dialogue between cultures, thus generating the exchange of knowledge and the conciseness of good living.

Ecuador is a multilingual and multicultural country and according to an investigation recovered from Researchgate “in recent years a significant improvement in social development and education."This is reflected in one of the objectives in the educational field that Ecuador has, which is the opening of the Amawtay Wasi Intercultural University with better quality parameters. And with this university the purpose is to strengthen the bilingual intercultural education system. Based mostly on the knowledge of original cultures. This university is public and community, which will allow a better vision of traditions and customs within our beautiful Ecuador.

And in this way we apply article 47 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador that expresses that “the State will guarantee and ensure the equalization of opportunities for people with disabilities and their social integration“ thus focusing on all individuals who are immersed in thesociety.

However, this does not take away the fact that we lack much ahead, development needs time and care. Even, we need to evolve as homeland, since in many Latin American countries such as ours there is still large percentages of illiteracy, as well as a series of children, adolescents and adults who do not finish school, it is true that 90% of childrenIf they enter educational institutions, but not everyone completes it. Reaching the degree of running out of studies and having young children in the streets working.

Likewise, those who get to a school do not give value to their seat and give very few encouragement to the study this causes educational arrears and in the same way this increases the percentage of children and adolescents who stay from the year. And as mentioned on the Monographs page.com s.A. "This produces overdad problems and this leads to dropout.”What begins a major problem already mentioned above which is illiteracy in different ages.

In some Latin American countries there is the serious problem that education does not have economic support in many areas. However, this is a benefit that Ecuador presents, has a program called “quota policy” active since 2014 that according to Senecyt has the objective of “making an affirmative action policy to comply with the provisions of theOrganic Law of Higher Education (LOES) where it is pointed out that self and co -financed higher education institutions must carry out policies in favor of discriminated groups.”And it consists in granting an assignment of educational quotas to boys or girls preferentially.

Preferential quotas are granted to students who belong to different ethnic groups, which are within a religion already marginalized or excluded, among other minorities that are normally separated from social groups. In this way giving them better study opportunities especially when it comes to obtaining quotas in universities if they present an average of excellence income to study in them whether inside or outside the country.

In spite of all these facilities that are given to students in Ecuador, the percentage of illiteracy or lack of education remains very high and this is not due to absence of opportunities but because within some ethnicities it is considered that education is notnecessary or also think that only man must study. And in many cases they are enrolled in schools to learn basic things such as adding and subtracting and then sending them to work or helping inside the home.

If they have that benefit, they must be educated to improve the world. Do not stay between the pile, but to go to the streets and fight so that others can receive the same opportunity as the boy as a person of an excluded community, managed to achieve.

We must still reflect and start generating changes, one as a teacher needs to encourage your students to improve. “The objective of a teacher is to give practical and theoretical knowledge taking as references the needs and interests of the students.”(University of Los Andes Venezuela, S.F.) So that in this way the same enjoy the activity of learning. It is true that making a student motivate is difficult and when he is not accepted within the institution by his classmates it is extremely complicated. However, when this is achieved, it can generate a chain effect. And, consequently, respect can be observed inside and outside the classroom.

In conclusion, interculturality within the classroom generates changes, promotes respect, allows the acquisition of knowledge, among other things. And teachers through the benefits of globalization and interculturality will encourage trust, autonomy, curiosity and competition characteristic that a child reflects when he has a quality education and a good educator.
