Idealism about artificial intelligence

Science fiction has been responsible for forming an idealized opinion on the field of study of artificial intelligence. A future where machines formulate their own thinking and feelings. In films or novels they resort to the resource of exaggerating some science areas with the aim of entertaining the viewer, but at what extent does fiction show reality in the study of artificial intelligence? To answer the question we will focus on the approaches of the field of study with the degree in Software Engineering in order to clear the Platonic perspective found in new students, recognize the value of the I.A in the degree as a dependent relationship, and finally consider the future perspectives of the same.

Artificial intelligence does not have an established definition because a parameter has not been marked where the machine has achieved "intelligence". The first to look for a description was Alan Turing that is considered the father of computing, beyond his Turing machine that helped formalize concepts of the current computational model we will focus on his Turing test; From Andrés (2007) he mentions that it consisted of placing a person and a computer in two isolated rooms and only communicated with them through a teletype (apparatus similar to a typewriter). If raising mathematical or logical problems, it is not possible to distinguish in which room the computer or person is located, it is that the machine has been able to match the resolution of operations to the human being. His position of the scientist is that the machines would overcome the test and, therefore, should be considered intelligent;A reasoning that is not so wrong since in 1996 IBM’s Deep Blue computer managed. For Turing the thinking is to carry out logical operations managing symbols so this point of view has collided with the humanists who consider sentimental aspects.

The official birth of the I.A This in 1956 in a scientific meeting in Darthmouth College in Nuevo Hampshire where John McCarthy, Claude Shannon and Marvin Minsky formulate a proposal where they claimed that any aspect of learning would be described so that the machine was able to imitate the behavior of the human being. Title “Summer Research Project In Artificial Intelligence” where significant advances were affirmed in aspects of understanding the concept of premises and conclusions, learning by experiences for problem solving. It was an optimistic perspective, since several decades were necessary to obtain significant advances.

With the background shown, the i could be defined. How science with the purpose of building machines capable of imitating human behavior, promoting the prosperity and progress of humanity.
