Human Rights and Social Equality

Social equality

Equality deals with the search for same opportunities for each member of society regardless of any distinction that is compared to any other citizen. Each and every one of the people living in the world should receive the same treatment, as indicated by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Even having collected social equality as a universal scope, social distinctions exist in all parts of the world. No effort, it is totally possible to see this series of differences. Many current communities suffer from absolutely adverse treatment of others;Countries like Niger, Liberia, India and many more, are victims of the ‘supremacy’, of continents developed such as Europe or North America.

The social difference from some continents to others is abysmal due to the social hierarchies that have appeared due to socio -economic issues throughout history and that is now difficult to eradicate, because it is a structural problem. It should be noted that in leading countries this inequality is also existing.

Some of the structural causes for which there is no social equality are “corruption, inequitable fiscal systems, privatization of public services, unfair distribution of investment and public spending, unequal access to knowledge, marginalization of public spaces of incidence and warsand armed conflicts " .

Legal equality

Legal equality or also represented as justice, “it is a set of essential values on which a society and the State must be based. These values are respect, equity, equality and freedom " .

Equality before the law is existing, although in practice, it does not become fulfilled in its completeness. We can observe how in societies this concept of equality is not achieved due to reasons, for example, economic, where people with greater purchasing power enjoy greater flexibility and opportunities before justice. Also, people who have been forced by force majeure to immigrate to countries with more stability than yours (due to political-economic problems), once living in their new country of residence, are not usually treated at the same level ofequity that native people.

In addition, this inequality can also be seen in gender inequalities;Women are usually legally treated. A clear example would be at work, since most situations negatively harm the women’s employment situation.

NONDISCRIMINATION?

According to article 2, every person has all rights and freedoms regardless of any particularity and must receive the same treatment. In the same way as equality, this only becomes theoretically fulfilled. There is no part of the world in which discrimination is void, there is always some person suffering from discrimination by another. Discrimination even becomes collective, inciting hatred and violence before entire communities;violating all fundamental human rights in addition to creating psychological negative side effects in those affected.

Discrimination is common in both developed and underdeveloped countries, and in no case could it be treated as punctual, because it has occurred throughout our history and continues to happen. The most discriminated people are: people with different sexual identities (homophobia would be a clear example of discrimination), different physical aspects (racism) and by gender, women (sexism).

Facing discrimination is a job that picks us all human beings that we inhabit on this planet. The struggle for non -discrimination is important in order to find a common well -being. We must pursue universal progress in the acceptance and understanding of others.

In conclusion, the social differences that exist today are evident and how they do not become solved. In my opinion, it is the lack of empathy for others, the lack of education lacking schools on issues related to social inclusion, the lack of visibility that these marginalized groups often have and the little compression offered by people.

I understand that many times, they are difficult situations to deal with and that they are not possible to solve overnight. But I think that, everyone should contribute their participation in these problems without waiting for others to be solved, since directly or indirectly, each and every one of us is affected.
