How Patriarchy and Gender Violence is embodied in couple relationships

Introduction

As social beings throughout history we have seen ourselves in the imperative need to relate to our peers. Forming ties turns out to be essential in our socialization process. Bonds that necessarily cover various dimensions of our social environment, such as where we develop daily and throughout our lives;both student, work, family, among several others.  In this particular case we will emphasize affective relationships or also polyoleo, courtship, marriage or any other type of loop that two people lovingly share.

It is important to make gender violence visible;and how this is configured within the plane of relationships. It should be noted that this is a very broad concept, which we will define broadly as the violence that women receive by men for the mere fact of being, this can be presented in multiple ways, not only by physical damage, butAlso in much more subtle and difficult to identify ways, such as micromachisms, and since all of the above is only a small part of a much larger and more imposing whole such as the patriarchal system.

Developing

The woman throughout history has always been considered less important with respect to the figure of man, he is the one who orders, provides and therefore brings economic stability, while we have been linked to home tasks, which are not comparablein importance to what they do not deliver: “The woman determines and differs in relation to man, and is not in relation to her;The woman is the insencial against the essential. He is the subject, he is the absolute; She is the other ”(Beauvoir, 18). What Simone does in this appointment is to emphasize the historical asymmetric relationship between men and women that is supported under the patriarchal system.

Which could be defined as a historical organization where women have been subordinated under the figure of man in every field, from power positions within politics, economy, religion to the simplest such as the organization of the familywhere man is the "lead" of this. Idea that in my opinion is still valid throughout the world and that we can clearly see in many ways, in the workplace, for example, when women gain a salary lower than men even when they have

The same job and do exactly the same, or the difficulty they have to reach important positions within a company because many times those "important positions" are reserved for "them", for the mere fact of being men, putthat the figure of man has always been related to authority, power, security and stability, while women have described as emotional, and weak individuals, following the maternal role that is exclusively linked to us.

The hegemonic establishment of this concept or rather of this model of life is responsible for the normalization of violent attitudes that are seen within multiple areas, such as the aforementioned or others totally different such as couple relationships.

A consequence of the patriarchal system and that has a great impact on men-woman relations is gender violence, which we previously defined as any type of perjury that takes place against a woman by a male individual individual, andthat is directly related to the unequal distribution of power of these within society. It is important to emphasize that gender violence is inherent in the patriarchal model, since this is somehow the incarnation or form of representation that has this within relationships, it can be manifested in multiple ways, such as physical violence, which is somehow "easier" to identify if we compare it to the psychological.

Many times the latter can go unnoticed under the concept of simple jokes or attitudes where man seeks to bring out in one way or another the superiority that the patriarchal model has granted. A clear example of this can be the first appointments or exits as a couple, where everything is pink color. The man says that he invites food and does not accept a not by response, a situation that is superficially taken as an act of gentlemen, but if we analyze it a bit, it is directly related to the patriarchal system where man is the one who provides and mustsome way "keep" the woman. Another clear example of micromachism in the relationship is when they become parents and man determines that it is she who must stay and raise the son.

This and thousands of other situations that look very daily among couples are the so -called micromachisms which we can define as: “microabuses and microvolences that ensure that the male maintains their own gender position creating a network that subtly catches the woman, threateningagainst her personal autonomy if she does not discover them […] and knows how to make it effectively "(Bonino, 4). While the concept is quite quite defined as gender violence, it mustWe have as a society of the patriarchal norm.

The context is a determining factor in the normalized and constant practice of micromachisms, since as we said before we are all protected under the patriarchal system which facilitates in a way the use of these misogynist attitudes.

conclusion

Given the previous research of this essay, I could conclude that gender violence does not only have a plane of manifestation, but rather are all those ideas embodied in the social environment in the form of attitudes, behaviors, thought and ideas that somehow replicateand perpetuate machismo. However, we must rescue the great historical introspective advance from the genre and what has oppressed us throughout all these years. Today our communication dynamic speaks of affective responsibility, consent;Concepts that point to respect, communication, transparency in the relational plane to break the stereotypes imposed from this asymmetric power relationship in our society. Continue tensioning those dimensions, structures or attitudes that somehow represent the patriarchy will contribute to forming a more tolerant, free, emancipatory society in our relationships, thus promoting self-determination and decision.

All this will be possible when men wake up and realize the favoring position they have over women within society, since many of them do not even have awareness of the system in which they are immersed, since they were born within thisAnd they had no way to start questioning whether the attitudes that had so normalized, were quite well or not.
