Follow Instructions Student’s name Learning Institution The main purpose of this article is to examine the effects of violence on child's community and whether it can alter classroom functioning and behavior of a child. Quantitative research method/design was used in this article. This research involves data in the form of numbers and statistics in which interview assessments were conducted as part of the randomized controlled trial design to measure the readiness of children at school in 18 head start sites in the preschool year fall and spring (Sharkey, Tirado-Strayer, Papachristos & Raver, 2012). Statistical data was used to make a comparison between the performance of the children when they had been involved in violence recently and when violence had not occurred recently. Statistical measurements were used to describe the difference between children scores when violence had occurred recently and when it had not occurred. The most important information of this research is that exposure to violence either directly or indirectly can lead to adverse health consequences and symptoms of stress hence affecting the performance of children in school. However, children who have exposed to extreme community violence in the form of homicide experiences some abnormalities in behavior, attention, and impulse control while in a classroom setting. This portrays that, if local violence affects the children behavior and performance in class, it can be extended to into key domains of social life. The results of this article are that children assessed within a week of local violence which had occurred near the premises, they experienced lower levels of impulse control,
