Five pillars of Islam today

Introduction

It is currently Islam is one of the most practiced and extended monotheistic religions around the world. One of the main characteristics of this religious current is that its practice is based on five fundamental pillars: Sahada, Salat, Zakat, Ramadam and Hach. Ramadan is the pillar that translates like the month of fasting. 

Muslims have to remain the ninth lunar month of their calendar without eating, drinking, or having sex, that is, keeping the body in a pure state during the hours of light. It is mandatory for all Muslims with the exception of children, people with health problems or simply the people who do not carry it out by their work.

The Umayyas, who initially oppose Islam and Muhammad for economic reasons, take Islam as a tool for its expansion. Although this fast has been reduced until simply restricting meat consumption and even restricting it on Fridays for some practitioners. Like Ramadan, this celebration of fasting has spiritual objectives and keeping the pure body during sacred periods to commemorate important dates for its religious tradition.

On the other hand in Judaism, you can also see a tradition of fasting during the Yom Kipur stage, which is the most important period of ten days for its religious tradition. This is known as the day of atonement. During the main day of this period, Yom Kipur, fasting and deprivation of sexual relations are mandatory as during the Ramadan period. It is a day of repentance in which a series of specific sentences must be pronounced. In this case, it differs from Islam in which it does not have the character of purifying the soul but repentance and penance, but the fasting period remains a common factor.

conclusion

It can be concluded that Islam is a religion with which a certain parallelism can be seen with the other two large monotheistic religions because the three worship the same divinity with their own norms. In addition to being Islam after both you can see how Muhammad took different existing concepts and adapt them to create a more simplified new faith. So for these reasons this parallelism can be found in the pillar of fasting between the three religions.
