Ethics applied in civil engineering

Ethics is indispensable for each human being. It is a custom, so to speak, that it is instilled by the majority of homes;but, however, we have been able to notice how it is losing its great value since many people prefer to break their principles for money, personal interests or any benefit that may be presented to them. In civil engineering you can see how some experts prefer to do things wrong, breaking construction rules regardless of the consequences that this can bring to the community. Pomar and Mateus states that:

“The importance of the construction sector, specifically the buildinger, for the development of the country is undeniable. In an urban country like Colombia, whose cities have grown in an alarming way since the 80s, the city represents a path of occasions of progress and its inhabitants. The construction sector represents for the country a determining factor in its economic and social indicators, so that national and local governments promote activity from different angles and even incorporate concrete actions in their various development plans, establish goals in theHousing construction, perform permanent alliances with the private sector and create incentives to consolidate growth or reactivate the economy, in the supply and demand of the real estate product. To achieve this, market actors, especially guildCompare with other free market economies the country’s position in different subjects, such as buildings development. These are the issues that will be analyzed in the first chapter and that will allow to know the reality of the sector and the influence of their actors for the decision making of the State."

The values

There has been much talk, talk and talk about values. It is, without a doubt, a theme at least controversial, but controversial, since it refers to a difficult concept to grab (by the load of subjectivity that entails) and even more to apply under uniform criteria. As López Quintás highlights it: “Values are slopes of reality, ambiguous by nature, lacking defined contours, overflowing with dimensions, and, as such, very difficult to reduce a precise and rigorous analytical study."

Since the dawn of humanity, men have been oriented towards some things and have rejected others, that is, they have manifested preferences, which govern social practices in their various fields.

People develop their existence, choose, make decisions, etc., based on values. The human being does not have an indifferent and passive attitude towards reality, but perceives it beautiful or ugly, good or bad, pleasant or painful, etc. You don’t know how to live without valuing. Always, when he makes a decision, and even when he does not take it, he is expressing his value system. At the same time, people have raised the need to agree on certain principles that promote a harmonious social life.

In that sense, values can be identified as conscious and unconscious preferences that govern for most members of a society and are socially regulated.
