Dance as the mother of the arts

Introduction

Dance is to be oneself, to have a presence and enjoy the movement, being aware that when dancing we are more than a body in motion. Dance is to express what you feel using your body and the environment in which you move everything accompanied by an acoustic rhythm. That’s why dancers are transformed when they climb a stage. The passion you put on and the technique with which you dance express what we do not get, so it is a way of communicating. I have chosen this issue because for me the dance is everything, with this I mean that, I dance to express what I feel and transmit everything I have inside me so dance and not for being a hobby.

Developing

When did dance emerge? “Dance is the mother of all arts, music and poetry exist in time;painting and sculpture in space. But Dance lives in time and space ”Dance came together with man, practically since its inception. There are authors, such as Curt Sachsd that consider it an instinctive and natural activity, so it is believed that it is prior to man, so it is observable in all the plans of animal life. Dance carries with the human being from prehistory since they needed the need to communicate bodily, either by sharing or expressing feelings or for a vital impulse. In the beginning we find two types of dance.

Concrete dance: This dance is what seeks to honor a God, request your protection or ask him to help you with a good harvest, birth or death, war or marriage. Abstract dance: It is one in which the only thing that matters is to simply enjoy dance, move, dance, without any purpose. Throughout the prehistory, the dance that took place in the prehistoric peoples had the magical-religious purpose. The prehistoric man did not dance to be seen, but the dance had a religious purpose. Some current primitive peoples, such as people from Africa or Oceania continue to maintain this tradition in their daily life by adding a social purpose.

Dance appears in expressing feelings and needs that are why we find it in funeral rites, marriages, wars, rains. Over the years different types of dances are formed and evolved in today. Dance history: Many ancient peoples saw dance as a way of life. The history of dance reflects what was lived in that historical moment. In India, Hindus believed that the creator was a dancer, he who made the world dance through different cycles such as death, visa and reincarnation. At the beginning of the Church in Europe, different dance pieces were included in the cult.

The history of dance was changing as time went by, as happened with other artistic facets. We will divide the history of dance by cooling into the historical ages: dance in antiquity. From Egypt to Dionisio, different writings, mosaics. They make us known what the world of dance was in different civilizations such as Egyptian, Greek and Roman. In Egypt, dance came from the hand of the pharaohs in ceremonial dances. These dances were performed in ceremonies that represented the death or reincarnation of the god Osiris, these were becoming more complicated until only professionals could be executed.

In Greece, dance was influenced by the Dance of Egyptian, which was given by the philosophers of the time. The philosopher Plato, was a brain of the Greek dance. The dance rituals of the gods and goddesses of the pantheon have been recognized as the origins of contemporary theater. Among the Romans, dance was not seen until 200.C. When he was part of ferstivals, celebrations. But from 150 to.C. Dance schools closed, because the nobility considered that it was a dangerous activity. When Emperor Augusto (63 A.C. 14 d.C.) I was governing a new dance currently known as mimicry.

Dance in the Middle Ages: dance was mixed with different rites in the fourth century at different Christian parties until the beginning of the ninth century when Charlemagne prohibited dance, but this decision was not respected by the people. Dance remained part of religious rites but not with their true names since they were camouflaged for fear of being discovered. During the XI and XII centuries a new secret dance called the dance of death, this dance arose to protest against the prohibition of the church and the appearance of the black plague. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries it extended from Germany to Italy.

The Renaissance and the Birth of Ballet: in the Renaissance it was innovated in the attitude towards the body, the arts and dance. France and Italy were the spotlights of the new dance developed thanks to different dance teachers and the graduates of musicians who could give voice to those pieces in celebrations and festivities. Los Pleyade, a group of intellectuals, studied the dance of the moment and related it to the previous one to recover the theater of the ancient Greeks combining music and dance. The first forms of ballet were born in Italy, in the court of Catalina de Medici (1519-1589), wife of Henry II, these first pieces were created by the great Baltasar of Beauyeulx.

In 1581, Baltasar directed the first cut ballet, a piece that tells the story of a legend. In 1661 under the mandate of Louis XIV, the first Royal Dance Academy was opened. Couple dances such as waltz or minuet began to be numbers with greater freedom and expression. In the following years, works such as Giselle, the Swan Lake, and Nutcracker in which the cult of the dancer was spoken and the struggle between the earthly and the spiritual world were created. However, the political powers colonized Asia, Polynesia and Africa and pursued and prohibited dance, this changed at the end of World War I.

In which the dances of Caribbean and African origin created new forms of dance. Dance in the twentieth century: after World War I, the arts are revolutionized and looking for new ways of expressing and being more dynamic. In Russia, the Ballet Renaissance arises, innovated by more bright choreographers, composers, designers and more visual artists. At this time the dance broke all the rules, thus the first manifestations of modern dances arose. The woman had a very important role since she enhanced free expression. One of the most important dancers of this movement was Isadora Duncan.

From the 20s, until today, there was a change in movement. Latin, African and Caribbean music were born, which inspired the creation of new types of dance such as rumba, tango, samba or cha cha chá. Harlem reappeared with another type of dance as was the Lindy-Hop. In the 50s, another different type of dance came to light, this was more individualistic and with more movement such as rock and roll, twist and free-style and years later breakdaincing. Types of current dances. Currently, we can find different types of dance, such as: lounge dances, stuck, dances, modern style, flamenco, some of these types of dance have subtypes.

Salon dances: The living room dances are dances that dance in pairs and following the musical rhythm. They are currently practiced competitively. Cha cha chá: its creator was Enrique Jollín. It is one of the most modern dances. This type of dance is intermediate since it does not go very fast or very slow so it is very danceable also has a very simple rhythm. At first the creator gave him the name of Neodanzón, but the dancers listened. Merengue: the meringue is danced "walking", its steps are following the blows of the music.

It is an asymmetric dance. It is a dance in which the hips have a fundamental role since many of the steps that are performed need the hip especially if the passage is as a couple. Tango: Tango is of African origin. Tango began to be seen from 1860. It was the first dance that was exhibited before World War I. This dance was not well seen by society since it was an exotic dance. I stuck: it is a dance of American origin, in which the main element is the feet, which move rhythmically. Its origin is a fusion of Swedish and Irish dances that was created between the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

This dance was danced mainly by the slaves, which unable to use percussion instruments their feet and hands were used to rhythms. In the competitions they made, it was not usual to see the participants with coreos but it was mere improvisation. This dance was used in many films of the moment. Classical dance: classical dance or better known as ballet is a dance in which the main element is the technique. Ballet is considered one of the performing arts. As I have said before, the important thing is the technique that has a great difficulty. It requires a lot of concentration to be able to control your body.

In addition to technique you have to have flexibility, musical rhythm (as in almost all dances) and coordination. Belly dance: The belly dance became popular in 1980 and was created in the state of Bahia (Brazil), in the following years it expanded throughout Brazil and Latin America. This dance has a mixture between Afro and electric music, so its choreographies have rhythms of the Samba-Reggae, the Frevo, the Afro, the Afoxé and the Hip-Hop. Contemporary dance: contemporary dance or modern dance was created to express feelings. What is a discipline that is changing according to dancers, since it is they who express their feelings.

In this type of dance individualism and abstraction are very important. There are currently two types of techniques: Graham and Cunningham, although dancers make a mixture between the two. The Graham technique was created by Martha Graham in 1927. The important thing about this technique is to feel the movements. This technique is divided by work on the ground and center work. Among the characteristic movements are demi-leads, triplets and the shootder failer. Cunningham technique created by Merce Cunningham, is merely technical, in this case they do not affect feelings. Its most important movement is demi-lead, although it emphasizes the verticality and elegant and strong arms and arms.

In this dance another of the strengths is the interpretation of the pieces and the synchronization with this when dancing. Flamenco: flamenco dance is a combination between dance, singing and guitar music. Flamenco needs great emotional intensity. The most characteristic movements are the gaciles with arms and the zapateos. It is original from Andalusia, although it comes from different cultures such as the gypsy of Arab, but today it is known throughout the world. In 2010 it was considered Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO. The beginnings of flamenco are located in the 18th century. Flamenco was associated with the gypsies, since it was the group that contributed the most.

There are several subtypes within flamenco such as: Sevillanas, Farrucas, joys, bulerías, tangos. The influence of dance in art. Since antiquity art and dance have been united an example of this is that classical dance has a narrative intention. Dance goes from being represented to be a presentation by the arts. These types of paintings were incorporated thanks to two processes that occurred in the twentieth century: the abstraction and inclusion of the object itself in the work. Such as in Ready Mades or Collages. This was allowed since in the previous century the body was presented in the arts which allowed it to be valued as creative material.

conclusion

The arts and dance were not hand in hand from the beginning, but with contemporaneity they approached until what we know today is today. The dance has always been fleeting, since the piece lasts a certain time and space, as is the performance, but this happened until some painters painted historical moments of dance and that has been a way that we are leftrecorded in mind whenever we want. Many have been the painters who have been interested in this world, such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Auguste Rodin, Gino Severini, Pablo Picasso, Anna Razumovskaya, Heather Hansen among others, but the main representative is Edgar Degas.
